Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 540

I looked at Noah and smiled, humming in response.

He hadn't been able to accept that I was now with William. But when he saw my bright smile, he suddenly could.

He thought of me as his sister and the most beautiful light in his life. It shouldn't matter who I ended up with. As long as I could keep smiling at him like this and stay in his life, that was enough.

Noah had already given it his all. But if someone didn't like you back, they just didn't. If I could have fallen in love with him, he believed I would've wanted to. However, I just couldn't.

He could only blame himself for not being my type, for not being good enough for me to fall in love with. He shouldn't blame me for anything, and he could blame his uncle even less.

Truly loving someone meant it was enough to see them happy. Maybe our relationship was already destined to turn out like this from the very beginning. Noah had started out as my little brother, and that was all he would ever be.

Taking my arm, he said, "Let's head in too, Emi."

He wanted to go in with me to get this done and help save Irvin. Then, he would watch me be happy with William.

Noah had just thought it didn't matter who I ended up with as long as I was happy. Even so, deep down, if I couldn't ever be with him, he hoped I would be with William.

He knew how good William was to him. If William hadn't felt strongly for me, he would've never made a move on the woman his nephew loved.

It was just like Ava had said. William had already sacrificed so much for her and Noah. So, just because he couldn't have me, did that mean William couldn't, either? Would he really begrudge William that happiness?

No, Noah wanted William to be happy too. And compared to Irvin, he felt William was more able to give me happiness.

When people truly understood each other, words often weren't necessary. Just exchanging a glance was enough to read the change in someone's heart. That was how things were between me and Noah.

He hadn't let anything show on the surface. All he said was that one sentence. Even so, I could tell from his eyes that he had had a change of heart. Just from looking at them, I could sense he had let go and was at peace.

The major player was especially devoted to his mother. She had suffered a stroke a few years ago and had been bedridden. Completely paralyzed, she had sunk into depression and lost the will to live.

What he had wanted most was for his mother to stand again and regain her ability to move freely. Over the years, he had taken her to see the world's leading doctors. However, the answer had always been the same—she would never walk again.

This only caused his mother to become more hopeless every day. It was to the point where she even stopped eating.

The major player had been on the verge of despair. Then, he came to Redwood and heard from his friend that I was developing an AI chip. If I was successful, my AI chip could potentially help those who suffered from paralysis and hemiplegia due to central nervous system damage.

His friend also mentioned that my device could help such patients regain motor function. I also already had several success cases, where—thanks to my invention—many wheelchair-bound people were walking again.

The major player had been beyond eager to meet me since hearing this. And when he found out I would also be attending this conference, he couldn't wait to seek me out.
