Loving The Playboy (by Queenies) novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Curse My Competitive Spirit
I returned home for the day to find a note from my mom.

‘Hey honey, I won't be back till later in the evening. Asher is having a sleepover at his friend's place. I know you told me you were going over to Maddie's for the day, so I left you some money for dinner and in case you needed to get something. Text me when you get to Maddie's place. Bye, I love you. Mom’

It is currently Friday afternoon, and I was supposed to go to a party with Maddie, which means I am required to be at her place before five, but instead I just laid on my bed like a dead whale.

I’m sure Maddie won’t mind if I skip the party. I sighed, snuggling into my pillow, only for me to let out a frightening scream when I felt something dragging me out of my bed.

"Why am I not even surprised?" Maddie was amused.

"Can you blame me? I feel so lazy," I cried out dramatically as I plopped myself back on the bed, just to get dragged back down.

"You know what? I'm not going to argue with you because that would be futile and a waste of time" . She walked to my closet and brought out a really small duffel bag, ransacking my clothes. She took out a cloth she didn't let me see and some other stuff, then took my phone and put it in her bag before walking back to me.

She lifted me up, dragging me down the stairs and out the front door, making sure it was locked, and I groggily followed her to her car.

We both got in, and she drove off. I furrowed my eyebrows and pouted my lips.

"Why do I have to go again?" I whined like a small child.

"because we made a deal. I help you get back at Hayden, and you promised to follow me to Daniel's party."

Curse my competitive spirit.

I let out a groan, hating every thought of it.

I did not think this through.

"Oh, c'mon, Bree, you’re being overly dramatic again." I folded my arms in my chest and stared at her, baffled.

“Am I not overly dramatic? I just have a highly demanding way of expressing my feelings."

"Yeah, sure." She smirks. "Or don’t tell me; Bree Adams is scared of a little party". Maddie taunts, laughing like there is no tomorrow.

"I most certainly am not". I argued back.

I give it to her; she knows how to press my button. But I love her to death; I don't know what I would do with her and Sofie.

We pulled up in her driveway. I got down and took out my bag, walking behind Maddie to the front door.

"Hey Bree, it's nice to see you." Alec, Maddie's eleven-year-old brother, said this with a flirtatious look in his eyes.

"It's nice to see you, Alec."

"Just so you know, my offer still stands. If you ever need a man to treat you right, just slide into my DM, and I will come running," he winked at me.

This boy doesn't give up; he's still a flirt. I am sure he will grow up to be a heartbreaker.

"I will keep that in mind, little guy," I cooed at him.

He huffed, "I'm not little; I will be turning twelve next month. And you know, babe, there's no other guy like me".

"Ok, eww, Alec, quit bothering Bree. Shoo, go do something productive with your life."

"No more questions. Madison and Alec, I left some money for you at the kitchen counter for dinner. See you later," she said as she walked out the door.

"Isn't this like your mom's fifth boyfriend this month?"

"You mean tenth; I just don't know what to do with her."

"I guess she just needs love; she has been lonely since your dad left."

"Yeah, I guess," Maddie said in a sad tone.

Their dad had left when Maddie was ten years old and Alec was just a few months old. Apparently, he had been seeing his secretary for years and fell in love with her. So he left his other family for his so-called secretary.

Despicable punk.

"I will leave you and the troll alone." Alec pointed the troll directly at Maddie before walking back into the living room.

"Come on, let's go to my room before that ass wipe comes back."

"Maddie, he is your brother."

"No, he is the devil's spawn. literally, a reincarnation of the devil."

"I will never understand the two of you."

We climbed up the stairs to Maddie's room, hanging out before the party as we watched the gossip girls.
