Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 225

**His Mercy Tastes Like Hunger**
**Chapter 225: Race Against Time**

**Reginald’s POV**

The weight of our conversation had shattered Fiona, leaving her utterly crushed.

It was as if the truth had landed like a heavy stone in the pit of her stomach. How could she possibly comprehend the burden I’d been carrying all these years? The emotions I had carefully buried, hidden away for so long, were now bubbling to the surface, festering in silence like a wound that refused to heal.

And what about Fiona? Where did she fit into this tangled web of feelings? Did I even have a place for her in my heart? I could see the flicker of doubt gnawing at her insides, the uncertainty that perhaps I had only kept her close out of sheer desperation—my lifeline, my escape route from the chaos that surrounded us.

But the sanctuary we had envisioned for ourselves? It quickly became evident that it was nothing more than an illusion, a mirage that had vanished in the face of reality.

Suddenly, a cacophony erupted from outside, voices raised in alarm, warning us of an impending attack.

**11:29**

“An attack? We’re under attack?” I sprang to my feet, adrenaline surging through my veins. This pack was supposed to be miles away from any border skirmish. How in the world had Mya Kingdom managed to reach us here, in this supposed safe haven?

Rumors had swirled that King Perry was leading the charge himself, but I had never anticipated he would strike with such swiftness. How many packs had already crumbled beneath his relentless assault?

“Get dressed!” I barked at Fiona, my voice sharp and urgent as I strode toward the door. I didn’t step outside just yet; instead, I flagged down a warrior sprinting through the hallway, desperate for the real story behind the chaos unfolding.

What I learned only confirmed my worst fears. King Perry and his gamma were indeed here, spearheading the attack with ruthless efficiency.

“How could they possibly be here already? The border is nowhere near this pack!” I demanded, disbelief coloring my tone. Unless I had completely miscalculated the geography of this kingdom, the border should have been days away by car.

**11:20**

“Border?” The warrior’s brow furrowed in confusion. “What border? That line disappeared ages ago. There is no border anymore. King Perry is advancing toward the palace while his royal gamma takes care of the pack raids.”

He rattled off the details, clearly irritated that I had interrupted his frantic pace, but there was an unspoken respect in his demeanor—as if he recognized me as an alpha, despite my current circumstances.

He wasn’t wrong. I should have been leading the Obsidian Claw Pack, and after Alpha Theodore’s death, I should have taken charge of the Crimson Fang Pack as well.

But both packs were now nothing but memories, just like Alpha Sterling—an alpha left with no pack, no warriors, and no one left to fight for him.

“Can’t waste more time chatting. You need to move too!” The warrior dashed off, urgency propelling him to defend what little remained of our home.

“Move?” I narrowed my eyes, frustration boiling within me at the thought of retreating.
