Before Edward could say a word, lan made his stance clear.

Shane jabbed a finger at lan’s face and shouted, “You’re throwing away your reputation for a woman? You’re a disgrace!”

lan didn’t flinch. “Dad, if you’re angry, take it out on me, but Andrea is innocent.”

Andrea stood beside Ian, her eyes flickering with uncertainty.

Now that things had gotten to this point, she had to seize her chance–force those crusty Hamilton elders to tacitly acknowledge her relationship with Ian going public.

With that in mind, Andrea gathered her nerves and stepped forward to face Edward.

She said to him, “Edward, even if you want to sentence me to death, at least let me explain myself.

Before anyone else could speak, Andrea hurried to clarify, “I’m friends with Miss Monroe, and she invited me to the Grand Horizon Group’s annual party tonight. I honestly didn’t expect Ian and his wife would also show up.”

Mia couldn’t take it anymore. “You bitch! Sneaking into my brother’s room and putting on Chloe’s clothes, and you still have the nerve to defend yourself?”

Andrea’s cheeks flushed with shame at Mia’s words, but she swallowed her anger. “I’m not making excuses. My clothes got dirty, and Ian was just trying to save me from embarrassment–he brought me into the lounge so I could change into Mrs. Hamilton’s clothes.”

Andrea hadn’t even finished before Miranda walked straight up to Ian. “Do you even remember you have a wife?”

Ian looked at Chloe, his gaze layered and unwavering. “Of course I remember.”

Chloe lowered her head, a mocking smile curling at the corner of her lips.

‘Wow, after everything that just happened, he can still say something like that? Chloe thought, the corners of her mouth curling with sarcastic amusement.

Without hesitation, Miranda raised her hand and delivered a sharp slap across lan’s face.

Andrea gasped, instinctively moving forward, but Miranda’s icy glare froze her on the spot.

Miranda snapped at Ian, “You know you’re married, and you still bring some other woman into your room, letting her wear your wife’s clothes. So tell me, lan–what does Chloe even mean to you?”

Ian kept a close eye on Chloe, watching for any reaction.

He said, “It’s just a piece of clothing, Mom. Don’t read too much into it.”

Andrea quickly jumped in, ‘Mrs. Hamilton. I’m really sorry for causing all this misunderstanding. If you feel the need to hit someone, please hit me instead.”

Miranda didn’t hesitate–she swung her hand and slapped Andrea hard across the face.

Andrea clutched her face and stumbled back, the whole living room falling into a heavy silence

Edward finally spoke up. “Ms. Sherman, do you remember what you promised me when you took that twenty–million–dollar check six years ago?”

Edward’s words sent Andrea into a panic.

She stood there, completely at a loss, shaking her head desperately. “You forced me to take that money! As soon as I got to Tecnovia, someone stole the check from me!”

Edward looked over at Ian. “I once offered Chloe 300 million to make her give up on marrying you, threatened her just like I did you. But she ripped up the check and swore she’d rather die than walk away

Andrea was seething with jealousy, practically about to lose her mind.

‘Seriously? They only tossed me twenty million to send me packing, but handed that bitch Chloe 300 million: Andrea couldn’t believe it.

What does she have that I don’t?‘ Andrea brooded, bitterness gnawing at her.

Ian stared at Chloe, shell–shocked, like his heart had been torn apart.

‘So Grandpa had tried to test her too, Ian thought, a wave of emotion crashing over him.

Back then, the Irvine family was desperate for cash after going bankrupt. But Chloe turned down that 300 million without hesitation, insisting on marrying him anyway.

Chloe lowered her gaze, purposely ignoring lan’s burning eyes.

She regretted her decision more than anything.

Andrea spotted lan staring hard at Chloe, and feeling shaky inside, she gripped his arm anxiously.

Tears streaming down her face, she pleaded, “lan, you have to trust me–your grandpa forced that twenty million on me, I swear!”

There was a conflicted look in lan’s eyes, dark and stormy with emotion.

He went quiet for a long moment before brushing Thomas, the butler, aside.

Pulling Andrea closer, Ian said firmly, “Grandpa, Andrea is the mother of my child. Clint is my son. I’m sure

she had her reasons.”

Andrea had given up her entire happiness for lan, and with her child waiting anxiously back home. Ian felt a heavy responsibility–there was no way he’d let anything happen to her.

Chloe stood silently in place, her composure unshaken.

Edward shot Thomas a look, and the butler stepped forward to present Andrea with a check.

Edward said, “Ms. Sherman, take this check–the choice is yours. Either leave, or marry into the Hamilton family.”

Andrea felt the world come crashing down on her–like she’d just been struck by lightning.

She collapsed to her knees in front of everyone, not caring about her dignity anymore.

Sobbing uncontrollably, she pleaded, “Edward, I know my background can’t compare to Ian’s, but we already have a child–Clint, your own great–grandson! I’m begging you, for the sake of the child, please show us some mercy, just let us survive!”

A steely glint flashed in Edward’s eyes. “It doesn’t matter what you want–this isn’t your decision to make!

As soon as Edward spoke, Thomas gave the signal, and a swarm of bodyguards rushed in.

Knowing Ian’s fighting skills, the Hamilton family’s bodyguards could only sneak up from behind to barely pin him down.

Watching Andrea being dragged off, Ian shot a sharp, warning look at Chloe. “Don’t forget what you promised me in the car!” his voice rang out, loaded with urgency.

Their eyes met, tangled in silent tension.

Chloe threw herself in front of the bodyguards, shielding Andrea and stopping them dead in their tracks

Chloe stepped up to Grandpa Edward. “Grandpa, please, give them your blessing.”

Her words made Edward furious. “You useless girl!”

Edward sprang to his feet, raising his cane and swinging it at Chloe.

Chloe stood her ground, shutting her eyes and bracing herself.

No matter what, she was determined to make Andrea lan’s rightful partner.

Tonight was the turning point–Chloe knew this was the chance to make everything change.

“Chloe!” Ian shouted.

Seeing Edward’s cane about to slam down, Ian broke free from the bodyguards with brute force.

In the split second before the cane landed, he lunged forward, wrapping Chloe in his arms to shield her.

There was a dull grunt, Chloe looked up and saw blood streaming down fan’s forehead in a crimson gast

Ian totally lost it and yelled at Chloe, “Why didn’t you dodge?!”

Chloe lowered her eyes, quietly pushing lan away.

Andrea, standing just a few steps away, was floored by what Ian had just done.

She’d always believed Ian didn’t have any real feelings for Chloe.

But she never thought he’d actually throw himself in harm’s way just to protect her.

Andrea hesitated, then mustered up the courage to speak. “It’s all my fault–I never should have come back. Edward, if you have to punish someone, let it be me!”

At just a glance from Edward, two bodyguards closed in on Andrea, holding her firmly and started to escort her away.

Ian brushed Chloe aside, forcibly restraining himself as he walked up to Edward.

He declared, “Grandpa, six years ago, you stooped so low just to tear Andrea and me apart, sending her overseas. But this time, I swear I won’t give you another chance to take her away from me!”

After Ian finished speaking, he suddenly glanced over at Chloe, as if something had just occurred to him.

Chloe stood there quietly, head bowed, her expression completely hidden from sight.

Edward took two steps forward, leaning on his cane. “If she dares to wreck your marriage, she’s dead!”

Ian’s voice was steel. “Andrea and Clint are my whole world. If you want to lay a finger on them, you’ll have to kill me first!”

His words made the whole room fall dead silent.

A strange tightness gripped Ian’s heart, and he instinctively looked at Chloe.

Chloe flashed him a wry smile and said, “Congrats, lan–looks like you finally found someone worth laying your life down for. Someone you truly want to keep by your side and protect.”
