Miranda picked up her bag and stood up, ready to leave. Before heading out, she threw him one last warning.

She said, “Ian, if you keep acting like this, not even God could help you now!”

When Mitchell knocked and walked in, lan suddenly blurted out, “If a woman teams up with another woman to drug her own husband, what kind of mindset does that take?”

Mitchell was caught off guard by lan’s expression. “Mr. Hamilton, that’s… hard to say.”

Ian pressed, “Just say whatever comes to mind.”

With Ian insisting, Mitchell finally worked up the nerve to speak. “If a woman can do something like that, she must really hate her husband. If murder wasn’t illegal, she’d probably just slip him rat poison.”

As Ian’s face grew darker and darker, Mitchell just lost his nerve and clammed up.

‘No way, is he talking about Mrs. Hamilton?‘ Mitchell’s mind spun.

‘Damn, this is some juicy gossip, he couldn’t help but think.

Mitchell set down the files and quietly slipped out of the office.

The spacious office was utterly silent.

Ian stood by the floor–to–ceiling windows, his posture rigid in his black slacks and white shirt.

He looked down at the bustling Kingsford skyline, unable to shake the weight bearing down on his chest.

Right now, all Chloe felt toward him was disappointment.

She’d only gone this far because he’d kept her controlled for so long–after everything he’d put her through, she was finally just letting it out.

There was no way Chloe could just stop loving Ian–not after loving him that deeply for so long.

After everything they’d been through over the years, getting divorced was basically out of the question for them.

Ian turned and walked over to his desk, pressing the intercom. “Mitchell, have Walter come to my office.”

After hanging up, Ian sent Chloe a quick message.

Chloe saw Ian’s message pop up on her phone.

Almost as if on cue, the doorbell rang. Chloe set her phone down and headed to answer it.

Andrea stormed in, looking absolutely furious. Chloe stepped aside and let her into the living room.

Andrea instantly zeroed in on the hickey showing on Chloe’s neck, her eyes blazing with jealousy.

Andrea snapped, her voice sharp with anger, “You kept saying you wanted to help me, telling me you’d divorce lan–when really, you were plotting against me from day one!”

Chloe shot her a confused look. “Andrea, you just barge in here and start accusing me out of nowhere. Are you nuts or what?”

Andrea caught herself, realizing how out of line she was acting.

She forced herself to calm down, trying to steady her emotions.

She said, “Ian just called. He ordered me to move out of the upstairs apartment before tonight. Are you happy

now?”

Chloe rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on.

“Trying to scheme my way through, and it backfired on me big time, Chloe thought.

She’d originally planned to set Ian and Andrea up together, stir up some drama, and get Andrea on her side. The two of them would use the gossip to pressure lan into a divorce.

But instead, she ended up dragging herself right into the mess, and things just got even more tense between Andrea and Ian.

But to Andrea, Chloe’s silence just looked like she was guilty, like she was hiding something.

Chloe was totally at a loss, sitting on the couch trying to figure out what to do next.

She turned to Andrea and asked, “Got any ideas?”

Andrea stared Chloe down, hesitating for a moment before finally saying, “I’ve got a plan, but I’m not sure if you’d actually go for it.”

Chloe looked up at her. “Just say it.”

Andrea said, “Just pick some guy and sleep with him. I’ll drag Ian over and we’ll catch you red–handed. Once he sees you in bed with another man, he’ll be out the door for sure!”

Chloe gave a cold, mocking laugh as she got to her feet. ‘Does she really think I’d stoop that low?‘ she thought.

She said, “Andrea, yeah, I want a divorce, but I’m not about to throw away my dignity or mess with my body just to make it happen.”

Andrea was getting more and more worked up, her voice shaking. “Oh, spare me the holier–than–thou act. You knew that drugging Ian wouldn’t work, but you still pushed me into it. All that talk about divorce? Total BS. You’re just jealous–plotting against me and stirring up trouble between Ian and me. You never meant to leave him in the first place!”

Chloe couldn’t even be bothered with her. “If you think I’m fooling you, then just leave. Ian’s totally hung up on you anyway–even if you’re out of the picture, he’ll chase you down no matter what. So go ahead, walk

out.”

Andrea’s fists tightened in fury. “Of course Ian loves me! It’s you who keeps stalling the divorce. If you really wanted to call it quits, why are you still sleeping with him?”

Chloe reached up and absently touched her neck.

She replied, “Andrea, you and lan sleep together even though you’ve got no status and no official standing. I’m his legal wife–why wouldn’t I sleep with my own husband?”

Andrea was trembling with jealousy, almost losing control. “lan hasn’t given me a title, but he gave me his love. You might hold the Mrs. Hamilton label, but wedged between me and lan, you’re just the unloved third party. What’s the point of that?”

Chloe replied, “Why don’t you come up with a plan then?”

Andrea snapped, “If you’re not willing to sleep with some guy, and you really want to help us out, then why don’t you just leave the country for good and never come back!”

Chloe locked eyes with Andrea, her expression steadily turning cold.

She said, “Andrea, don’t be so selfish.”

Chloe continued, “I was born and raised here. My family, my friends, my career–they’re all here. For some jerk, you expect me to give up everything and leave my home behind? Neither of you is worth that!”

Andrea snapped. “All this talk just means you can’t let go of Ian, and you’re too hooked on the Hamilton family’s power and money to ever walk away!”

Chloe just rolled her eyes in disbelief.

She shot back, “Andrea, instead of coming here to pick a fight, why not use that brain of yours to figure out how to make Ian divorce me?”

Chloe went on, “Listen up, Andrea. As long as Ian and I aren’t divorced, I’m his legal wife. That means I can spend his money, sleep with him whenever I want, and if I ever decide to give the Hamilton family an heir, well, you’re out of luck–there’ll be no place left for you.”

Chloe finished, “So you’d better hurry up and come up with a way to get Ian to divorce me before I change my mind.”
