Ian was clearly triggered by Chloe’s attitude.

He grabbed her by the ankle and yanked her toward him, pinning her against his chest with the blanket still between them.
Panicking, Chloe grabbed her phone and swung it straight at Ian’s head.
The phone smacked him right in the forehead–he started bleeding instantly.
They locked eyes, just inches apart.
Startled, Chloe dropped her phone.
Ian’s face was stormy as he let her go.
They both backed away and got off the bed.
They stood at opposite sides of the bed, with the big bed still separating them.
In silence, they locked eyes for a few seconds. Then, without another word, Ian turned and walked out of the bedroom. As soon as he was gone, Chloe hurriedly locked the door behind him.
‘I didn’t even say a word, and Ian’s already mad at me? Seriously?‘ Chloe thought, annoyed.
‘How did he end up the angry one here?‘ Chloe wondered, baffled.
Early the next morning, Chloe got up.
Ian, who’d spent the whole night brooding on the couch, got up when he saw Chloe, his face still dark and
sour.
The cut on his forehead was just sitting there exposed–not even a bandage.
Their eyes met, but Chloe just ignored the cut on Ian’s forehead and turned to walk into the dining room.
Ian stood there stewing in silence for a while before finally stalking off to the master bedroom without a word.
Just before heading out, Chloe turned to Cora and said, “Cora, could you help me get the guest room ready?”
She’d been so wrapped up in work lately that she hadn’t had a chance to sort out her own life.
Since lan didn’t care about her at all, even without that marriage agreement holding her back, she still wouldn’t go too far.
If she really pissed Jan off and he decided to come after her, she’d just have to take it
But sleeping in separate rooms? That should be no big deal.

Ian was way too proud and stubborn–there was no way in hell he’d let anyone force him to get a checkup just to prove he was perfectly healthy.
At eight in the morning, Chloe parked in the hospital parking lot.
She’d just stepped out of her car when she saw Andrea approaching, heels clicking against the pavement.
Andrea blocked Chloe’s path with a provocative smile.
“Mrs. Hamilton, got a minute?” Andrea said, her tone deliberately casual.
Chloe stopped in her tracks.
Andrea said, “Don’t take last night to heart. Mrs. Hamilton just wanted to see her grandson, so she asked Ian and me to bring him over for a bit–and we ended up having dinner together.”
Chloe gave her a look of disdain. “So, when is Mrs. Hamilton finally going to accept your son as part of the Hamilton family and bring you both home?”
Chloe’s words wiped the smug smile right off Andrea’s face.
Andrea held back her annoyance for a while before forcing a smile. “Chloe, I know you’re jealous of me, but you don’t need to say stuff like that just to provoke me.”
Andrea went on, “Honestly, if I hadn’t convinced Ian to go home to you last night, he would’ve stayed at my place. So don’t go feeling smug about it.”
Chloe slapped a fat wad of cash down in front of Andrea. She smirked and said, “Andrea, if you somehow manage to keep Ian at your place for a night, I’ll pay you a reward. Deal?”
Andrea’s face froze, the muscles in her cheeks visibly stiffening.
Chloe spotted a colleague waving at her from across the parking lot and shot Andrea a look of pure contempt.
She said, “Instead of wasting your time trying to get a rise out of me, maybe you should figure out how to actually please Ian. Last night he got a little too desperate with me, and I ended up hurting him. Why don’t you go put on your best sympathy act and see if he needs a little TLC?”
With that, Chloe turned and walked off with her colleague.
Andrea stood there, biting down hard on her lower lip.
“They’re on the verge of a divorce, and she still can’t wait to jump into Ian’s bed?‘ Andrea seethed, jaw
clenched.
‘All that talk about teaming up, about him divorcing her to help me take her place–what a joke. It was all just empty promises, Andrea thought bitterly.
“That bitch has been playing me from the start, Andrea cursed inwardly.
Andrea spat, “Bitch!”

Just then, a middle–aged woman happened to walk by Andrea.

The woman glanced around, saw no one else, and jabbed a finger at Andrea. “Who are you cursing at?”
Andrea gave her a once–over and scoffed, her voice full of disdain. “Ugh, what’s your problem? Did I call you anything?”
The woman looked like she wasn’t someone to mess with. “It’s just the two of us here. If you weren’t talking about me, then who?”
Andrea let out a snide scoff and spun around to leave.
The woman wasn’t about to let that slide. She charged over, yanked Andrea by the hair, and smacked her across the face twice. “You think you can mouth off and just stroll away? Not happening!”
Andrea let out a shrill scream, thrashing wildly. “You crazy old hag! Let go of me, or you’ll be sorry!”
The woman fired back with two more slaps. “You calling me an old hag?!”
Bystanders rushed over to break up the fight, pulling the two women apart.
Andrea, being a small–time influencer, covered her face, desperate not to be seen. She ducked into her car, defeated and humiliated.
‘Just my luck–trouble came out of nowhere,‘ Andrea thought, fuming.
She hadn’t even said anything that bad, and then suddenly, some random old lady slapped her across the face
four times.
Her fake hair piece ended up getting ripped right off when the woman grabbed her.
Thank God she’d managed to shield her newly touched–up nose–otherwise, she’d be stuck hiding at home
for weeks.
Seriously, you walk outside in the morning, and even the lowest people on the street feel free to mess with
you.
Andrea’s nerves snapped–she gripped the steering wheel, slammed it, and let out two loud, frustrated screams, barely holding herself together.
‘Once I marry Ian and become the lady of Kingsford’s top family, let’s see who’ll dare treat me like trash, Andrea vowed silently, her eyes blazing with ambition.
By evening, Andrea was waiting right outside lan’s apartment building, timing it perfectly.
As soon as she saw lan step out of his car, she hurried over, practically tripping over herself to get to him.
Jan’s brows knitted together when he saw the swollen side of Andrea’s face, “What happened to your face?”
Andrea covered her face, looking pitiful. “Tan, your mom called me last night and asked me to bring our son over to see her. I really didn’t mean to get in the way of you and Chloe.”

Ian’s face grew darker. “You went to see her?”

Andrea shook her head frantically. “I didn’t go looking for Chloe. Things have been rough at home lately, and I haven’t been able to sleep at all. I was worried my depression might be coming back, so I went to the hospital to get checked out. I just happened to run into her in the parking lot.”
Seeing lan stay silent, Andrea kept going. “Chloe saw us together last night and got the wrong idea. She literally threw cash at me right in front of her coworkers, said all sorts of insulting things, and basically offered me money to ‘take care of you.”
Ian was stone–faced, lips pressed into a tight, unforgiving line.
Andrea kept going, “Chloe straight–up called me a homewrecker and you a bastard. She said she’s been dying to divorce you, can’t even stand to look at you anymore, and basically wishes you’d just disappear and never set foot in the house again.”
Ian’s expression didn’t change; his voice was cold and clipped. “And? What else did she say?”
Andrea broke down in tears, her voice trembling with indignation. “Ian, Chloe was never actually my friend- she just wanted to make a fool of me. This morning at the hospital, she just stood by and let her colleagues gang up on me, calling me names in front of a crowd. If you don’t believe me, you can go see for yourself- everyone saw it!”
Andrea kept sobbing, “Ian, your whole family looks down on me, Chloe’s always out to misunderstand me, and it feels like everyone’s got it in for me. Seriously, what did I ever do to deserve all this?”
Ian watched Andrea sob uncontrollably, then wordlessly reached into his car for a tissue and handed it to her.
He said, “Just go home for now. I’ll find out exactly what happened.”
Satisfied she’d gotten what she came for, Andrea obediently walked away.
Ian paused for a moment, his jaw clenched, then pulled out his phone and dialed Chloe.
Chloe had just stepped into Rowe Estate when her phone started buzzing—it was Ian calling.
As soon as she answered, Ian’s voice came through, bristling with accusation. “Seriously, Chloe, was it so hard to just talk it out? Did you have to put her on blast in front of everyone?”
