Chloe was rushed into the hospital emergency room.

When she fell down the elevator, two men just happened to be there and caught her right just in time.

Fortunately, Chloe only suffered a few bruises and abrasions.

Although there were no serious physical injuries, Chloe’s spirit had suffered a severe hit, and she was emotionally on the verge of a breakdown.

Ian, unable to relax, asked the doctor to order an observation period for Chloe, keeping her in the hospital for 12 hours.

Chloe sat on the hospital bed, her elbows and knees wrapped in bandages. Ian, Patrick, and Mia stood at the side of the bed.

The atmosphere was incredibly tense. Mia cleared her throat, but in the end, stayed silent.

If this had happened to her, she’d probably end up killing someone.

Patrick leaned on the bed’s guardrails, eyes flicking between Ian and Chloe. He was usually so talkative, but now, he was unusually quiet.

It seemed a box of sanitary pads had turned into a “bloody mess“. Ian got in trouble this time.

Ian sat beside Chloe’s bed, quietly staring at her pale face. After hesitating for a long time, he finally didn’t explain himself.

He said, “You rest for a while. I’ll go get you something to eat.”

As Ian stood up, his phone in his pocket buzzed.

He glanced at the incoming call, then subconsciously looked over at Chloe.

Chloe bit her lip, trembling from the strain, but she didn’t say a word.

Ian reminded Mia, “Stay with Chloe, don’t let her out of your sight.”

Patrick and Ian left the room together.

In the hallway, Patrick stopped Ian. “Ian, what on earth are you doing? You just admitted your relationship with Andrea and her son at the old house, and now, before Chloe has even had a chance to recover, you run off to buy sanitary pads for her?”

Patrick said, “Is Andrea the only woman in the world who gets her period? You really care about her that

much?”

Ian felt really down. “She called me halfway, asking me to buy a pack for her because she urgently needed it. I just agreed without thinking.”

Ian’s emotions began to freeze, his gaze hardening

Patrick continued, “She went to me asking to borrow 200 million dollars to divorce you I go ne pressured her so much, would she have come to me?”

Ian stared at the hospital door, his fingers gripping the phone so tightly his knuckles turned whire

Inside the room, Chloe’s emotions erupted.

Her mind was flooded with the hurtful words fan had said to her in the study at the old house

Ian firmly told his family that the one he wanted, the one he had always loved, was Andres, nor Chine

He said his happiness had been ruined, that the child was his own flesh and blood, and that he would take fill responsibility for Andrea and her son.

Chloe clutched her head in agony.

Before the wedding, someone had told her that marriage was a tomb.

She always smiled and replied, telling them that as long as she could marry lan, marriage would mean belonging to her. But now, upon reflection, she realized how naive she had been

But now, looking back, she realized how naïve she had been.

This marriage with Ian had not only buried her entire youth but also her pride and her self–respect

The marriage she had dreamed of was a simple one with just the two of them.

The husband she wanted wasn’t someone perfect, but someone who, from body to mind, was completely clean and truly belonged only to her.

Ian’s heart had become corrupted, and so had he.

No matter how much she liked him, no matter how much she loved him, she no longer wanted him

Chloe cried as she picked up her phone and called her father, Frank.

The phone connected, and Chloe, holding back tears, spoke with a trembling voice, Dad. I want to go home

On the other end of the line, Frank only asked, “Where are you now?” After Chloe gave him the address, be hung up the phone.

Mia knew Chloe was serious about this decision.

She quickly called her mother, Miranda, and asked her to come over.

Mia sat by Chloe’s bed, holding her hand, speaking carefully. “Chloe, do you regret marrying lan?”

Chloe held Mia’s hand, her eyelashes trembling.

She said, “I do regret it, and I really can’t face the current situation.”

Outside the door, Ian’s hand trembled as he gripped the doorknob.

This was the first time he had heard Chloe say the word “regret.”

Patrick, noticing Ian’s panicked expression, raised his hand and pushed the door open.

Ian walked to the side of the bed, his deep gaze fixed on Chloe.

Mia hurried over, “Ian, Chloe called her parents. I’ve asked Mom to come over too.”

Ian hesitated for a moment before sitting on the edge of the bed. He leaned toward Chloe, resting one hand on the side of the bed as he leaned closer to her.

He looked into her eyes and said, “I know you’re upset, but let’s solve our problems together. Don’t bother the elders.”

Chloe sat on the bed, her eyelids lowered, quietly waiting for her dad to come pick her up, offering lan no

response.

Since Andrew had returned to the country, and Ian had gone to pick them up at the airport in the middle of the night and hadn’t returned home for a month, she didn’t know how many times she had cried and how many times she had argued.

She had been sick, hurt, fainted, and even threatened suicide…

No matter what she did, no matter how she did it, nothing could move Ian, nothing could change his decision, and nothing could change their ending.

Her love for Ian had finally grown into something not about possession, but about letting go. Letting go of him and letting go of herself.

Chloe was unwilling to speak, and for some reason, Ian felt a bit anxious inside.

He turned to Patrick and Mia and said, “You two go out first. I want to talk to Chloe alone for a bit.”

Patrick and Mia exchanged glances. Before they even reached the door, the door to the room opened from

the outside.

Chloe’s parents entered the room.

Ian stood up, surprised. “Frank, Jill, what are you doing here?”

Ian turned to glance at Chloe, his eyes filled with guilt. “I haven’t taken good care of Chloe.”

Jill stood by the bed, checking Chloe’s injuries.

Chloe’s chin trembled as she bit her lip, trying hard to hold back the tears.

Jill, understanding Chloe well, knew that this expression only appeared when she was truly hurt.

Jill’s heart ached so much. “How did you get hurt, sweetheart?”

Chloe felt an overwhelming pain in her heart.

She opened her arms, just like when she was a child, and threw herself into Jill’s embrace, crying as she said, “Mom, hold me.”
