Luke was stunned by Joe’s twisted logic.
Selina gave a cool smile. "Angelica, don’t dodge the question. You still haven’t told me—why did you forge the will?"
Luke chimed in sarcastically, "Yeah, so what if she showed up at your engagement to scare you? You forged a will and stole someone’s husband—who’s really shameless here?"
The guests exchanged glances. Whether or not Selina meant to embarrass Angelica didn’t matter—Angelica had brought it all on herself. No one could blame Selina.
And if Selina herself said the will was fake, then it was definitely fake.
Angelica saw her attempt to change the subject had failed. Her lips turned pale and her eyes welled up with tears.
She knew she couldn’t hide it anymore. If she didn’t confess, Selina would never let this go.
"I’m sorry, it’s all my fault!" Angelica suddenly burst into tears, covering her face. "Selina, I admit it—the will was forged. Boohoo..."
"But I had my reasons! Selina, I knew how much you cared about Logan. You wouldn’t have wanted him to be alone after you were gone. I thought I was doing what you would’ve wanted... I did it all for you and Logan..."
The guests—and the viewers in the livestream—were stunned.
The will really had been forged by Angelica...
Everything about Selina wanting her to marry Logan, inherit her assets, run her studio—it had all been made up.
Even scheduling the engagement on Selina’s seventh-day memorial... Angelica had claimed it was Selina’s last wish, but now the truth was out—it was all on purpose!
People were horrified.
Angelica’s fans turned red, scrambling to defend her in the chat:
[Selina’s just being petty! She clearly planned to humiliate Angelica!]
[She wasn’t even dead, but she waited until things got out of hand to show up—just to ruin Angelica’s big day!]
But most viewers weren’t buying it. Angelica forged a will, lied to everyone, and now Selina’s the villain?
"For Selina and Logan? Give me a break."
Luke snorted, "Selina ’died,’ and you couldn’t wait to move into Sapphire Valley Villa. You were probably thrilled—less competition for you!"
Angelica sobbed harder. "Mr. Luke, please don’t misunderstand me. I’ve been grieving so much these past few days. I forced myself to stay strong... I didn’t expect you to set me up like this. I was never happy about Selina’s death..."
"Move it! Get it done already!"
Suddenly, a harsh voice rang out from inside the villa.
Everyone turned toward the commotion.
A maid from the Morris family was barking orders at several others, directing them to carry out large boxes.
"Listen up! This is Miss Angelica’s house now. Everything of Selina’s goes in the trash!"
"If you lazy girls had done this sooner, we wouldn’t be behind! I gave this order the day Selina died—Sapphire Valley Villa belongs to Miss Angelica now. That dead girl’s stuff should’ve been tossed immediately!"
...
The entire room went dead silent. No one said a word.
After a long beat, Selina stepped forward and casually opened one of the boxes, smirking faintly.
"Angelica," she said coolly, "on the very first day of my ’death,’ you already told your maids to clear out my things. This is what you call... grief?"
Everyone turned to Angelica and Joe with stunned expressions.
Grief?
...
Joe was mentally spiraling. A voice in his head told him that he and Angelica had made a massive mistake.
But admitting it out loud? That was another matter.
Seeing Angelica cry, he still felt that no matter how wrong she was—so what? Couldn’t Selina just let it go?
"Miss Clark..." Joe’s voice was weak. "Yes, forging the will was wrong, but Angelica thought you were dead. And now that you’re alive, you shouldn’t humiliate her like this!"
"Then tell me," Selina’s voice turned icy, "why did Angelica think I was dead?"
"Morris Chairman and Grandpa Reid both knew the truth, yet you helped her cover it up and spread the story that I died in a ’boating accident.’ You all know perfectly well who tried to kill me—don’t you?"
The weight of her words hung heavy in the air. The crowd leaned in, sensing something huge.
Grandpa Reid’s throat tightened. "Enough!"
"Seven days ago," Selina continued coldly, "your bodyguards dragged me into a derelict warehouse owned by the Reid family. They said I had offended Angelica—and for that, I had to die—"
"I said shut up!" Grandpa Reid roared, slamming his hand on the table and standing up, face crimson with rage.
"Guards! Take her away—don’t let her keep spouting nonsense and stirring up trouble!"
Security moved in instantly—but Logan calmly stepped in front of Selina, blocking their path.
"Logan!" Grandpa Reid shouted. "You really want to go against me?! You’d rather choose this manipulative woman over the Morris family heiress?!"
Selina gave a cold smile. "Grandpa Reid, are you sure you don’t want to hear the rest of what I have to say?"
"I’m only trying to protect your name, after all... because..."
