Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 443

Chapter 443: Used as Someone’s Pawn

Ten minutes later, a waiter approached Selina respectfully.

"Miss Clark, Mr. Reid asks if you can return to Sapphire Valley Villa to grab a document."

Selina raised an eyebrow. "Logan wants me to go home and get a file?"

The waiter nodded politely. "Mr. Reid said it’s critical for today’s deal. He accidentally left it at home, and he doesn’t trust anyone else to handle it. He asked you to go in person."

Selina gave a small nod. Some things really couldn’t be handed to others.

And she recognized this waiter—he really did work for Reid Group.

The waiter led her outside. "Miss Clark, the car is ready."

Selina glanced at the driver in front. She didn’t recognize him.

She thought about asking for Jack or at least requesting a driver she knew—or driving herself. But just then—

"Heading to Sapphire Valley Villa?" Scott’s voice sounded behind her. "I’m going that way. Take me with you."

Before Selina could respond, he just got in the car and leaned out to look at her.

"Come on. Get in."

Selina frowned. But worried Logan really needed that document urgently, she got in.

Scott seemed in a chatty mood. "I’m curious, Miss Clark. Why did you marry Logan in the first place?"

Selina glanced at him. "I married him, not you. Why do you care?"

Scott shrugged with a lazy smile. "I heard you broke up with Ryan, then schemed to marry Ryan’s uncle—but ended up with the wrong man. Is that true?"

Selina’s eyes narrowed. "Scott, you really did your homework."

"So your marriage with Logan was a mistake from the start."

Scott didn’t bother to soften it. "I just don’t get why you’re still hanging around him. Don’t you care what people say?"

"Who’s talking?" Selina shot back coolly. "Riley?"

Scott’s brow twitched. "It’s not about Riley. I just think if something’s wrong, you should fix it. Logan doesn’t suit you."

Selina didn’t bother responding. She closed her eyes to rest.

But as the car continued, she noticed something was off—it was too quiet.

Sapphire Valley Villa was big but still in the city. The road there was never this empty or silent.

Her eyes snapped open, instantly sharp. "Stop the car."

The driver didn’t react.

Even if she’d been slow before, it all clicked now.

"Scott, what the hell are you doing?"

Scott looked at her calmly. "I’d suggest you don’t struggle. Just sleep."

As soon as he finished, a heavy wave of dizziness hit Selina. The world blurred.

"You—"

Bang.

Her head slumped against the window as she lost consciousness.

Scott exhaled softly. "My apologies, Miss Clark." He nodded at the driver. "Keep going."

Half an hour later, Selina slowly woke up in an unfamiliar room.

Scott’s voice came from outside the door.

"Miss Clark, this is the old Hanks estate. No one really lives here, but it’s kept clean. I’ve got a few staff outside. If you need food or water, just tell them."

Selina let out a disbelieving laugh. "Scott, are you insane?!"

Scott didn’t argue. "Just stay here tonight. I’ll come personally tomorrow to apologize."

"Who the hell wants your apology? Open the door!" Selina’s voice turned cold. "I don’t remember ever wronging you. Is this revenge or what?"

Scott went quiet for a moment.

"Miss Clark, you shouldn’t be involved in Logan and SL’s deal. Stay here tonight. Once everything’s settled, you’re free to go. It’s better for you—and for Logan."

He paused.
