Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 569

Chapter 569: Always Watching Over in Silence

Riley’s face turned pale again.

Logan rose. "Let’s go."

As he passed by Riley, the man said lightly, "In fields you’re unfamiliar with, Miss Nelson, you still have much to learn and practice."

The words landed like a heavy slap across Riley’s face.

Much to learn and practice... That was blatant mockery—calling her out for showing off what little she knew!

"Oh, right." Selina suddenly thought of something and turned back. "I’m the so-called perfumer ’without real skill, who only rose to the top through marketing tricks’—Piper. If Miss Nelson finds that hard to accept, you’re welcome to challenge me anytime."

—Boom!

Riley’s mind exploded with a deafening crash.

Her face flushed crimson, then drained to chalk white, her body swaying as she bit her lip hard.

Selina was Piper... Selina was Piper?!

Everything she had just said—she’d said it right in front of Piper herself?!

Now Riley finally understood why everyone’s looks had been so strange earlier—because Selina was Piper!

"Miss Nelson, whether Piper has true talent or not—we customers know better than you."

"I hear Miss Nelson dabbles in perfumery as well. Do you have any works that can compare to Piper’s?"

"Piper has won plenty of awards. If Miss Nelson looks down on her, surely you must be drowning in trophies yourself?"

One mocking voice after another pierced Riley’s ears. She swayed, on the verge of exploding, ready to scream for Hunter to throw them all out.

But when she turned around, she realized Hunter was already gone.

...

Logan took Selina to a restaurant.

The moment she sat down, she heard the waiter outside the door announce, "Mr. Reid, your guest has arrived."

Selina blinked in surprise. "Guest? Who else did you invite?"

Before she finished speaking, the door to the private room opened.

A man walked in, exuding commanding presence, the kind of authority that came only from years at the top.

He was in his forties, dressed in a crisp black trench coat, a simple yet quietly luxurious watch on his wrist, his gaze razor-sharp.

A man like that was clearly powerful. But no matter how powerful—Logan wasn’t the kind to stand in deference.

Yet Logan did stand up. He even respectfully invited the man to take the seat of honor.

And at that moment, Selina realized who he must be.

"Selina."

But the man didn’t sit. He studied her quietly, as though making absolutely sure she was safe. His eyes swept over her inch by inch, and only when he confirmed she was whole and unhurt did the ice in his expression finally ease.

"This is our first meeting. I’m your uncle."

Selina had already guessed.

There weren’t many people who could make Logan show such respect. And with that commanding aura, there was only one answer—her mother’s elder brother, the one who had lain low for years before finally striking back and reclaiming his place: Jeff Hill, the head of the Hill Family.

Selina nodded. "Hello."

She blinked and said with a hint of old-fashioned politeness, "I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Logan’s brow lifted slightly.

Jeff went on, "If you don’t wish it, that’s fine. But the Hill Family was our father’s legacy to your mother and me. Now that your mother is gone, I will never hand her half of it to someone else."

Selina said quietly, "You can keep it for yourself."

"That was my sister’s."

Jeff looked at the girl before him with rare tenderness. "It belongs to her. It’s what she deserves. And it’s my will. Even if you don’t wish to return to City N, I will keep that half for you."

Selina didn’t immediately agree.

Jeff said no more, instead turning to Logan. "As for you, Mr. Reid... thank you for all you’ve done for Selina when her family was not at her side."

Selina’s ears twitched. She had a feeling his next words wouldn’t be pleasant.

And sure enough—

Jeff’s tone carried faint disdain. He was like any parent, convinced no man was good enough for his family’s daughter.

"But in City N, there are countless young talents like you. If Selina wishes, I can certainly choose someone for her."

That was an exaggeration—because even in City N, someone like Logan was rare.

Logan gave a soft laugh. "The head of the Hill Family seems dissatisfied with me?"

Jeff replied, "Mr. Reid should resolve his own family affairs first—then speak to me."

He had investigated. Amelia had troubled Selina repeatedly, and every time, it had been because of Logan.

Logan wasn’t surprised by Jeff’s protectiveness. "Mm. Soon."

After the meal, Jeff rose to leave. But as he departed, he looked back one more time.

In Selina’s eyes, fixed on that man, was a smile—just like the one her late mother had once shown when looking at her fiancé.
