Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 609

Chapter 609: Then Get Out Together

Ava also put on an act of kindness.

"Selina, you really should work on that temper of yours. Fine, fine—we’re sisters. If you’re doing well, then I’ll be doing well too. I’m willing to put in a good word for you."

She turned back into the private room and, in a soft and gentle voice, said,

"Teacher, for my sake, please give my sister Selina another chance."

Samuel flicked his sleeve, his expression laced with contempt as he glanced toward the doorway.

Then, perhaps because he thought the mood was just right—with so many people urging him on—he decided that giving Selina a little face wouldn’t hurt.

But really, something others looked down on, he was supposed to look up to? What a joke.

Selina narrowed her eyes, licking the back of her molars as she looked at Hannah blocking her way.

She was itching to hit someone. Why insist on putting your face in front of her hand?

Samuel lifted his chin high, looking down his nose at her.

"Miss Clark, becoming my disciple is possible, but I don’t just accept anyone. How about this: I’ll ask you a few questions."

Selina, expressionless, pulled out her phone and dialed the NF Restaurant’s manager.

Samuel didn’t notice her move and kept talking on his own.

"How many years has Miss Clark studied oil painting?"

"The reason I made an exception for Ava is because she’s studied since she was a child. What about you, Miss Clark?"

Selina lifted her gaze ever so slightly.

"You sure you want to keep blocking me here?"

Samuel raised a brow, but before he could answer, Hannah rushed in.

"Master Samuel, Selina doesn’t mean that. She’s just shy. Please be patient with her." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Samuel nodded to himself. That made sense. With his reputation, who wouldn’t want to be his disciple?

Still, Selina knew nothing. If she became his student, it would be her climbing above her station.

Thinking this, Samuel let out a derisive laugh.

"Miss Clark, I’ve seen your type too many times. If you—"

But before he could finish, a rustling sound carried from not far away.

Selina put her phone away, her gaze cool and detached.

"I told you, stop imagining things."

The NF manager stepped forward, smiling politely.

"Mr. Samuel, I’m sorry to inform you that NF Restaurant is closing early today. We must ask you to leave first."

Everyone froze.

What? NF Restaurant was closing? That had never been announced.

Samuel’s brows drew tight.

"What’s the meaning of this? No one else is being asked to leave—why me alone? Is this how NF Restaurant does business?"

The manager’s tone remained calm, neither humble nor arrogant.

"Mr. Samuel, must I spell it out so plainly? Out of respect for your many guests, I didn’t want you to lose too much face. But if you insist..."

His eyes met Samuel’s directly.

"Do I need to say it word for word, in front of everyone here—that NF Restaurant does not welcome you or your students—before you’ll understand my meaning?"

The room went dead silent.

Samuel’s face turned pitch black.

What was that supposed to mean? Not welcome here?

At the sound of his name, the manager immediately stepped forward, his tone courteous yet firm, leaving no room for refusal.

"Miss Hill, this way, please."

Ava’s face drained again.

Her eyes brimmed with tears, as though she’d suffered an unbearable wrong. "Selina, how can you say that? I truly was doing this for your sake..."

"For her sake? Really?"

Suddenly, a thunderous, commanding male voice crashed through the room.

Everyone froze for two seconds, then turned—and gasped in shock.

The head of the Hill Family!

Jeff stormed in with swift, forceful strides, his expression dark and intimidating.

His eyes swept past Ava, and he let out a cold laugh, his presence suffocating as he demanded, "Say that again—doing this for her sake?"

Ava’s heart quaked with terror. Her hands trembled violently as she bit down hard, whispering, "Patriarch, I was only..."

"Why invite Selina to your apprentice ceremony? Why insist on blocking her in front of everyone? Do you think I don’t know exactly what you’re doing? You just wanted to highlight the difference between you and her!"

"You think that because Selina didn’t grow up in the Hill Family, she’s beneath you. That she can only pick up what you don’t want, that only through your so-called ’charity’ can she gain any benefit or step into City N’s high society. Is that what you mean?"

The room fell into dead silence, the air so heavy no one dared breathe.

Ava’s face turned ghostly white, her innermost thoughts ripped out into the open. Her entire body shook like a leaf in the wind. "Patriarch, I-I didn’t mean that. I only worried Selina wouldn’t be able to fit in..."

"Is that so?"

Jeff’s face remained ice-cold. He raised a hand, and an assistant behind him stepped forward with a document.

Jeff flung the document to the ground.

"Then what’s this?"
