Daisy stepped in, trying to smooth things over. "Calvin, you must be getting overheated standing outside. Just take it easy." The surrounding employees quickly chimed in, and Calvin's expression improved instantly. But the next moment, the lock announced once more, "Incorrect passcode." Everyone exchanged uneasy glances, the atmosphere growing unbearably awkward.
Beside me, Ivy couldn’t hold back her laughter. "It seems my parents changed the code since I haven't been back in a while. Let me make a call to check." Calvin, now visibly anxious, tried calling me on WhatsApp. Without hesitation, I declined the call.
"In a meeting," I messaged back.
"Miss Wright, the passcode isn’t working, and we’re all stuck outside in this heat," he replied. Just as I was about to suggest he head back, Ivy leaned over, whispering a suggestion in my ear. I told Calvin, “I’ll send someone over to let you in. Just wait a bit.”
Meanwhile, Calvin assured everyone to be patient. But moments later, he turned and saw Ivy and me entering through the villa door. The instant Daisy spotted me, her expression turned dark.
"What are you doing here? Calvin doesn't care about you anymore!" she spat, clinging possessively to Calvin's arm as if to claim him.
