(Author’s POV)
"Mr. Dion Everests, I heard your corporation has signed up with the mysterious and most talked about artist ’dev- ine’. How did you do that?" the one who asked, her eyes were making hearts as she was in a full throttle fan mode. "I am his biggest follower and supporter. I even got one of his paintings from an auction."
Dion smiled at the lady and was about to comment, but before he could say anything, someone barged into their conversation, "Ohh, really? I find it quite funny, Ms. Carlson. I have heard that only three of the artist’s pieces have been released in the market, and only one has been auctioned off to date. And the buyer~ .... From what I remember, it wasn’t you but Mr. Sebastian Garcia who accumulated it. Did he perhaps give it to you as a gift? I didn’t know you two were on such close terms with one another," she subtly took a jab at the first lady, as her face turned red with embarrassment as well as anger. Some were looking at her with judgmental eyes, while others gazed at her with pity. But she was more ashamed because the accusation was made in front of Elio and Dion. She wanted to clear her name.
"Ms. Winston, sorry to disappoint your gossipy self, but to make things clear, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia are friends with my parents. So, when Mrs. Garcia got to know about my love for dev-ine, she gifted me the piece as a birthday present," Ms. Carlson clapped back at the other female, her attitude sharp and dignified.
Dion was enjoying the drama, while Elio had no interest whatsoever in this scene from a daily soap opera. He excused himself, leaving Dion alone.
The one called Ms. Winston was irritated but kept her composure. She feigned innocuousness as she stated, her facial expression filled with naivety, "I am really sorry, Ms. Lily, if my words somehow offended you. It wasn’t my least bit of intention. I got just a little curious because I am a fan of dev- ine’s artworks as well. I am truly sorry."
Everyone waited for Lily’s reply. If she still pursued the matter, she would be viewed as ruthless and unforgiving. Or if she didn’t, it would hurt her pride. But in the end, she had no choice but to go with the latter option. She faked a jolly smile and commented, "Ms. Sally. I accept your heartfelt apology. But please mind your words next time. It might not have offended me, but you may irk someone with your careless choice of vocabulary and have to bear the brunt of it." It was a clear warning, though Lily kept her smile intact.
She then turned to Dion with her earlier question, "So, Mr. Dion. Tell me more about dev-ine and how you were able to crack the deal?"
"Luck, I suppose," Dion sipped on his Armand de Brignac Midas Champagne.
"Ahhh~ .... That’s not quite fair, Mr. Dion. But ok~ .... Tell us whether the artist is a male or a female."
"Isn’t that question a little odd? Does it matter whatever their gender might be?" Dion inquired.
They were talking back and forth when Lily got a call and had to attend to it. This left Dion alone with Ms. Winston. She came close to him and whispered near his ear, "Young Alpha Dion. I was really surprised to see you and your brothers at this event. The last time I saw you was at your pack house, at the birthday banquet of Princess Nora and Young Alpha Elio. You always look and dress impeccably." She traced Dion’s collar line, and then her hand wandered to his chest.
"Ms. Sally Winston, you look good as well." he stopped her advances and backed away a little to keep a safe distance between them. He then changed the topic, while adjusting his collar, "How is Alpha Almond and Blue Mountain pack’s work going? I heard there has been some internal dispute. Is it true?"
"Ahh~ ... my father and the pack both are doing fine. There is no dispute whatsoever. Your sources are wrong," she tried to speak casually, but there was a hint of annoyance as well.
"Ohh~ my bad. I apologize, Ms. Sally," Dion spoke, with no trace of any apologetic tone.
Sally saw it but didn’t mind. Her target wasn’t even this Everests Lycan. So, she asked about the person she had been pinning for, "By the way, why isn’t Young Alpha Alaric with you all?" Her face held a rosy blush.
’Ahhaaa~ ... still after the Lycan heir. Good one, Sally Winston,’ Drey muttered inside Dion’s head.
All the brothers were aware of Sally’s obsession with the one who held the Lycan heir’s crown. When Brave was the heir apparent, her eyes were set on him, despite him having a fated mate. But when Alaric took over Brave’s duties and title, she switched her target as well. She and her father were greedy for absolute power. They wanted her to marry the one who would take over Noah’s Lycan King title.
Dion shook his head. Sally became disappointed and dejected at his reply. But something clicked in her mind. If Alaric weren’t here, she could have a little bit of fun with his brother. After all, he was a renowned womanizer, so he would not mind letting her into his bed. A coquettish and alluring smile appeared on her lips as she looked at Dion with dotting eyes.
"That’s a pity," she then looked around as if to check something and then whispered softly, "This place is too crowded. Why don’t we go somewhere else to get some fresh air? I know you really need it as well." Her hints were obvious. She was asking for some fun sexual activities, a casual yet passionate sexual intercourse. She has heard a lot from the ones who had shared a bed with Dion about how good and commanding he was. She wanted to experience the thrill.
