Chapter 306: I Came To Meet You

(Author’s POV)

"Slow down, slow down, Myra~ ... the soup is still hot," Sandra said to Myra as she was chugging down her soup.

"She is getting late for her morning class," Wendy answered on Myra’s behalf. Then she shifted her focus to Myra and asked, "By the way, sis, why are you wearing such thick specs?"

Myra started having a fit of cough when she heard Wendy’s question. Yelena patted her back soothingly. After feeling a little easier, she answered, "My eyes are a little swollen today."

"Now that you said it, your face looks a little puffy today. It is not an allergic reaction, right? Did you have something with excessive sesame? Let’s go to the doctor for a checkup. I will talk to your professor," Sandra became concerned.

"Mom, mom. Chill. It is not my allergies. It is because I overslept," Myra assured her.

"Are you sure? Your lips look swollen, too. And your neck, it seems you have rashes," William pointed out.

Everyone shifted their gaze to Myra, looking at where William had just pointed. Myra consciously touched her neck and replied, "You guys are worrying too much. It must be a mosquito bite."

Yelena took a bite of her sandwich and stared at Myra’s neck intensely, thinking, ’Mosquito bite? I don’t think so. Her room’s window wasn’t even open. Maybe it is~ ...." She gasped in shock after realizing something. ’Fabian, you are such a dirty dog. I know when Myra gets drunk, she loses her memory, and you took advantage of her drunken state. You just wait. I will set you straight today. You need a beating.’

Wendy looked at Yelena and asked, "Why are you murdering your poor sandwich? Is it that bad?"

Yelena snapped out of her imagination and replied, "It is the opposite. The sandwich is just damn good. I was thinking of killing those bloodsucking big, big mosquitoes."

Myra, being oblivious to Yelena’s thoughts and their conversation, finished her breakfast in a frenzy, said her goodbyes, "Bye, maa ...... bye dad. See you," and rushed out of the house. As she stepped out and started walking, her mind reeled back to William’s comment about the ’mosquito bite’ on her neck. She felt it with her fingertips and mumbled, "Did I do something inappropriate in front of Fabian? Stupid~ ... stupid. You already know you cannot tolerate alcohol well, so why did you drink to the point of having a blackout? Ohhh gosh, now I don’t remember anything. I should probably ask Fabian about what happened and apologize too. He must have had a hard time." She exhaled a heavy sigh and sprinted her way to the lecture hall.

The morning lecture, as usual, was Oswald Mitchell’s class. So, she couldn’t miss it, although her headache was killing her. She rushed inside the class, just in time. But as she was about to take her usual seat, she saw it was already taken.

And not just that, the first row was fully packed, and the next two rows were occupied by Nigel Long and his crew. With no choice left, she took a seat in the back, away from all the chatter and disturbance.

As soon as she settled down, Oswald made his entrance, back to being his usual stoic self. Everyone fell silent, and the class began. Myra was having difficulty keeping her focus on what Oswald was teaching. Her mind drifted back to last night’s event, her right hand caressing her neck, the other one on her temple, ’Why do I have this feeling that I have forgotten something really important? And the mess in my room, when did I even do it? Arghh~ .... Fuck. I feel like my head is about to explode.’

"Ms. Miracle~ ....?" Oswald called out to her without looking at the front row.

Myra was so into her own world, contemplating that she didn’t hear.

Prof. Mitchell, after not getting any reply from her, lifted his head and found Myra wasn’t in her usual place. He wrinkled his nose, thinking Myra hadn’t come. ’One day after the seminar, and she had started slacking off, huhh? I never expected such irresponsible behaviour from her.’

A girl who was sitting near Myra called out to her in a whisper, "Myraaaaa~ ... Prof. Mitchell is calling for you."

Myra was so dazed, deep in her world, that she didn’t hear anything again. The girl, feeling pity for her, crouched down and went near Myra and tapped her lightly, saying, "Prof. Mitchell had been asking for you."

Myra was forced back to reality as she jolted from her seat and said, her voice louder and more high pitched, "YES, PROF. MITCHELL."

Her voice took not just Prof. Mitchell by surprise, but everyone present as they all stared at the last row. Oswald glanced her way and narrowed his eyes, "Ms. Miracle, are you so into your own world that you didn’t even hear I was calling for you?"

Myra’s head lowered in embarrassment as everyone looked at her in shock, mumbling, ’Is that Myra Miracle? Holy shit~ ... I didn’t even recognize her and thought she had bunked today’s class."

"Is she going under some sort of transformation? She even cut her hair short and is wearing such chunky glasses. Did something happen to her?" another one spoke.
