(Author’s POV)
"I will~ .... rea~lly .... jump~ .... And~ di~e," Myra mumbled in her sleep. Her voice filled with raw agony. And for Alex, this was the last straw. He rushed back to her side and tried to break the cycle and get her up from her deep slumber.
He called out, his voice came out low, "Myra~ ... Myra~. Wake up .... Wake up. Myra~ ..... you need to wake upppppp~ ..."
But Myra was too immersed in her ghastly nightmare that she didn’t hear a single thing. She was soaked profusely in sweat. The affliction on her face was a testament to her internal struggle.
Alaric pulled at his own hair, trying to get a hold of his wolf, ’Stop it, or else you are going to make things worse. Did you forget what you promised, Alex?’
Unfortunately, Alex was too engrossed in Myra’s emotion. It was affecting him deep within. But he knew he shouldn’t try to touch Myra to wake her up, because that would definitely make the situation worse. So, even in this desperate scenario, he tried to restrain himself.
But Myra’s voice, full of pain, was getting louder and clearer. In an almost bellowing voice, she grunted, "Arrrgghhh .... I .... won’t .... back .... down .... Never."
Both Alaric and Alex were feeling her pain as her intense emotions were amplifying her natural scent, making the smell overwhelmingly potent. This phenomenon happens when someone is going through vehement emotions and has lost total control of themselves. But its occurrence was as rare as water on the sun.
At the very moment when Myra was aiming at the darkness with the wooden stick, Alex held Myra’s shoulder, his hand coming in contact with her bare skin.
And as their flesh came into contact, a static sensation sparked from their touch, which caused an impact that threw Myra backwards and out of her haunting dream.
Feeling the moment of weakness from Alex, Alaric took the reins back and dashed towards the window, hiding behind the curtain. Though he tried to do his best not to be spotted, his burly, tall and sturdy build wasn’t of much help. Myra immediately sensed something off.
As she was chugging down water, she suddenly stopped for just a brief, tiny moment and then mumbled something about getting warm water from the kitchen. But her cautious actions told Alaric instantly that she had already sensed his presence. She was sharp as ever.
As alert and astute as Myra is, she remained calm and collected even in the face of danger and made her way out of the room. She even made sure to lock the door from the outside, and then Alaric heard her sprinting footsteps.
He, too, wasted no time and leapt out of her room. After running continuously and getting to a safe distance, he halted his steps and looked back towards Myra’s house. He then started bashing Alex, left, right and centre, "What the fuck did you just do there, Alex? Are you out of your freaking mind? Did you lose your sanity completely? You even ignored my words." Alaric was full of anger as he reprimanded his wolf thoroughly.
In a small, almost inaudible voice, Alex said, ’I just lost control. But Al, I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t see our mate in pain. I just couldn’t~ ... Did you not feel it~ .... her distressful state? Did you feel absolutely nothing? Tell me.’
Alaric didn’t give any answer to that. He just, in a very frustrating tone, remarked, ’Shut up~ Alex~ .... I don’t want any of this nonsense from you again. I shouldn’t have agreed to come here.’ He shoved Alex back in his mind and totally blocked him out, not giving him any chance to counter.
Slicking back his damp hair, Alaric glanced at his hands for a minute in silence. The very hand that came in contact with Myra’s shoulder. The softness of her skin, the warmth~ .... It still lingered on his fingertips. Closing his eyes, he just muttered, "DAMN .... This is truly frustrating," and then returned to the hotel.

Inside the Demon world, in the realm of nightmares, chaos erupted as the dark, unrecognizable figure was thrown off guard by the sudden brute force. The other small demons surrounded the darkness, as the person in question grunted, "Ughhhh~ ... tskkkk~ .... arghhhhh~ ...."
The murmurs and chatters arose around him, "Did you see that blinding light? I have never witnessed something like that before."
"Yeah~ .... Seriously. I didn’t know such an ordinary human could have such elephantine power," another infernal servant spoke. "Even someone with the status of the Marquis of Hell was thrown off by that. That’s insane."
Though their voices were hushed, they still reached the person they referred to as the Marquis of Hell. With a thunderous roar, he uttered, "SILENCE~ ... foolish beings. You dare to mock me and my authority." And with a quick as lightning flick of his hand, the gossipmonger minions turned to ashes.
