Chapter 89: Chapter 89 Tonight Belongs to Us

Victoria

The feeling of Leo’s powerful hand at the small of my back guided me toward his sleek black SUV, each step making my heart flutter wildly against my ribcage. The shopping bags rustled in his free hand, but his eyes never left mine—dark, intense, holding promises that made my inner wolf whine with anticipation.

"You really went all out today," he murmured, his voice a deep rumble that vibrated through me as he opened the passenger door.

I smoothed down the crimson wrap dress, suddenly hyper-aware of how it hugged every curve. “Do you like it?” I asked, forcing a teasing smile though my heart raced.

His eyes darkened, the golden flecks in them burning hotter. "I hate it," he said flatly, though the possessive edge in his tone made me smirk. "Every man in that room will be staring at you, little wolf."

"Which means you do like it," I shot back, tilting my head, daring him.

He swallowed hard, gaze dropping to the neckline that revealed just enough to test his control. The faint twitch of his jaw told me I was winning. Making this powerful Alpha lose his composure had become one of my secret pleasures.

"Get in the car," he muttered, his voice rougher now. "I’ll give you my answer when no one else can hear it."

He helped me into the passenger seat, his fingers lingering against mine longer than necessary. The innocent contact sent sparks racing up my arm. As he walked around to the driver’s side, I let my eyes follow him—his broad shoulders filling out the crisp shirt, the predatory grace in every step. When he slid behind the wheel and caught me staring, his jaw tightened, and that heat in his gaze promised I’d pay for teasing him later.

When he slid into the driver’s seat, the SUV suddenly felt much smaller, his presence filling every available space.

"How was the Council meeting?" I asked, trying to maintain some semblance of normal conversation despite the tension crackling between us.

His fingers flexed on the steering wheel as he pulled away from the mall. "Productive. Boring. Nothing that can’t wait until tomorrow." His hand left the wheel to rest on my thigh, just below the hemline of my dress. "I’d much rather hear about your day."

The weight of his palm burned through the fabric, making it difficult to form coherent thoughts. "We bought flowers for the pack house. For everyone recovering." I swallowed hard as his thumb traced small circles on my skin. "And clothes. Obviously."

"Obviously," he echoed, his lips curving into that rare smile that always made my heart skip. "This particular purchase was an excellent decision."

Instead of turning toward the main road that led back to pack territory, Leo veered onto a smaller path that wound through the dense forest bordering our land. The trees thickened around us, dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy in shifting patterns across the dashboard.

"Where are we going?" I asked, my voice embarrassingly breathless.

Leo’s eyes remained fixed on the winding road, but his hand inched higher on my thigh. "Somewhere private. As requested."

Heat bloomed in my core at the reminder of my bold challenge at the mall. The memory of his growled response—"Your wish is my command, Luna"—sent a shiver down my spine.

The SUV slowed as Leo guided it off the path into a small clearing, hidden from the main road by thick foliage and tall pines. He cut the engine, and suddenly the only sounds were our breathing and the distant calls of forest birds.

He turned to face me fully, his eyes now molten gold—his wolf close to the surface. "No pack members. No enemies at the gate." His voice dropped lower. "Just us."

My breath caught in my throat as he unbuckled his seatbelt and mine in one fluid motion. His hands found my waist, lifting me effortlessly across the center console and onto his lap so I straddled him. The steering wheel pressed against my back, but I barely noticed the discomfort.

"This dress," Leo murmured, his fingers tracing the neckline where it dipped between my breasts, "has been driving me insane since I saw you in it."
