"Alright," Sebastian agreed without the slightest hesitation.
Roxanne looked at him and nodded, then turned to Nicholas. "You're the witness. He agreed."
Nicholas nodded. "I'll be the witness."
Then, he said to Sebastian, "You promised. Just three days."
Nicholas figured it wouldn't be that hard. It was only three days. If Roxanne was willing to give Sebastian a chance, that meant she still loved him.
Roxanne stood up. "Alright. Get some rest. I'm tired too. I'm heading back to my room."
Nicholas stood to walk her to the door. When they arrived, he said, " Honestly, I admire you. Even after everything, you're still willing to give him a chance."
He felt a little like a scumbag. Sebastian was clearly a pitfall, and he had just shoved Roxanne into it. He really wasn't a good person.
Roxanne gave him a wink, her pretty face full of mischief. "You don't actually think I'm giving him a real chance, do you?"
Nicholas' eyes widened in shock. "You tricked him?"
She shook her head. "I didn't."
"Then what do you mean?" She had clearly given Sebastian a three-day test. That was her giving him a chance. Why did she say it wasn't?
Roxanne let out a long, deep sigh. "Nicholas, you think too highly of Sebastian. From what I know of him, he won't succeed."
Three days was indeed such a short time, but even then, Sebastian wouldn't be able to manage. Besides, she would be leaving In three days, so she didn't mind letting Sebastian see clearly where she stood. What he felt for her was nothing more than a refusal to lose her.
