Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 146

Liam asked, "Ma'am, is this your lost bag?"

The moment Angeline saw the familiar bag, she grabbed it and said in a trembling voice with excitement, "Yes! It's mine! Thank you, thank you!"

She didn't even check the money first. She went straight for the inner compartment, searching for the photo. But it was gone. At that moment, she felt like the sky had fallen.

The money was still there, but the faded photo was missing!

"Where's the photo? Where's my photo?"

Liam looked at her, deeply moved. "The man in that photo is me. It's my photo. Why should I give it back to you?"

Angeline stood there frozen. Then, slowly, she lifted her eyes to his face and stared at him for a long time. Finally, recognition hit her, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes. "Liam!"

They threw their arms around each other, overwhelmed.

Since then, she started vacationing in Hyvaland often just to see Liam. This time, since Yasmin had to go overseas for filming, she tagged along too so that she could juggle between work and romance.

At this moment, Angeline's voice was soft and gentle as she spoke from where she lay on the hospital bed. "Liam, thank you for saving me again."

Back when she was young, if it hadn't been for Liam, she would've been sold off to some old bachelor. She wouldn't be living the glamorous life she had now.

Liam peeled an apple for her. He wasn't a talker but gave all his love to her.

She didn't mind. That was how it had always been between them. He would stay by her side while she did all the talking. "Liam, did Roxanne reach out to you?"

Liam shook his head. "She probably won't. I saw her toss my name card straight into the trash after you gave it to her."

Angeline froze, then let out a cold laugh. "So, Marilyn must've told her about me. She's good at pretending, huh?"

She had been testing Roxanne from the start. She hadn't been sure if Marilyn had mentioned her, but it was clear now that she had.

She walked over to the top of the stairs and saw a shadowy figure sneaking around below.

"Who's there?" she shouted.

The person suddenly flicked a lighter and tossed it toward the staircase. In an instant, flames erupted, racing up toward the second floor in mere seconds.

Someone had set the house on fire!

She rushed to open the door on the second floor, only to find it sealed shut from the outside. Someone was trying to burn her alive.

She quickly covered her nose and mouth and ran to the window, banging on it as hard as she could, praying someone would see her and come help. But the thick smoke filled her lungs. Her head was spinning, and everything was going dark.

Just before she passed out, she thought she heard someone scream heart-wrenchingly, "Roxanne!"
