Sebastian no longer felt secure in his relationship with Roxanne. The only thing that could give him security now was a marriage certificate. At least the certificate would tie Roxanne to him.
He led Roxanne through the VIP channel, with Mason, Yasmin, and Jensen following behind them. However, as soon as they got off the plane, everyone went their separate ways.
"Sebastian!"
As they exited the VIP passage, they heard Liana's fragile voice.
Roxanne rolled her eyes.
Sebastian instinctively tightened his grip on Roxanne's hand. His expression darkened, and his eyes flashed with restrained anger. "What are you doing here?"
Liana, looking pitiful and frail, gazed at Sebastian and Roxanne with innocent, watery eyes. She bit her lower lip and apologized to Roxanne in a choked voice, "Roxanne, I'm sorry for what happened at the gala that day."
Her voice was quivering. "I know I was wrong... I really liked the gown you wore, so I bought a knockoff. I know it embarrassed you that day. It's all my fault. I was selfish and vain. It's all my fault. Please don't be mad at Sebastian. Don't run away and avoid him. Put all the blame on me."
Roxanne's face showed a trace of amusement. "Alright then."
She stepped forward and slapped Liana hard across the face.
Liana wasn't expecting it, and she was immediately knocked to the ground by the force of the slap. The pitiful expression on her face disappeared as her eyes widened in disbelief. She stared at Roxanne. Then, she looked at Sebastian.
Did Roxanne really slap her in front of Sebastian?
The three people behind her were equally shocked.
But this time, it seemed Sebastian was holding himself back. Of course, there was also another important reason why she had lost control and slapped Liana today. Miles wasn't dead!
All these years, Liana had been taking advantage of Miles' death. How many grievances and humiliations had Roxanne endured because of it?
Roxanne admired these people from the upper social circles. Each of their tricks was more sophisticated than the last, with tactics layered on tactics. They even thought of the despicable trick of faking a death.
She didn't blame herself for wasting seven years. She had thought she was dealing with a simple bitch, but it turned out she was dealing with a strategist of power and schemes.
Liana looked desperately at Sebastian but was met with his cold, indifferent attitude. Her heart sank. Sebastian had already lost all hope in her. She had no chance of turning things around now.
No!
