Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 173

Just one simple sentence saw an instant drop in temperature in the city hall.

Roxanne's gaze froze, then something surged into her mind. Her heart seemed to leap out of her chest in that instant. Of course! She got married to Shawn the day after she returned to Riverton!

She had forgotten such an important thing. She got dragged back by Sebastian, and this period of time had been so intense and suffocating that she hadn't had time to think about much else. Moreover, her marriage to Shawn had just been to help him out.

Since the two hadn't contacted each other, the whole thing had slipped her mind.

What a close call!

No matter how much power Sebastian had, he couldn't change the fact that she was already married. He couldn't register a marriage with her, an already married woman.

Perfect!

She walked up to him, patted his shoulder, and looked at him with a bit of pity in her eyes. "Sorry, I forgot to mention to you that I'm already married."

When Sebastian heard that she was married, his mind went blank. For at least a full minute, he was in a daze, his eyes vacant and confused.

The staff member turned the computer screen around, showing that Roxanne was indeed married to someone named Shawn Riley.

Right then, it was as if something exploded in Sebastian's mind. He let out a gasp as his eyelids twitched and his hands clenched unconsciously. He slowly turned around and asked, "Who's Shawn Riley?"

Roxanne's gaze was clear and unflinching. "My husband."

His throat felt constricted as if something was choking him, and he couldn't breathe. It felt like he might suffocate at any moment. "When did that happen?"

She replied seriously, "The day after you canceled the engagement party, I went to register my marriage with him. He's my neighbor."

She took a deep breath. "Sebastian, I'm already married. Please, let me go and stop bothering me."

As she spoke, she looked at Sebastian, whose fragile expression seemed like it could break at any second.

Did she feel a sense of revenge? No!

She only wanted a peaceful breakup. She would be fine, and so would Sebastian.

She didn't want to stay here any longer. She told him, "I'll be leaving now. I wish you happiness."

She picked up her documents and quickly left. She left Sebastian alone standing in the city hall, a place meant to symbolize happiness and love. His tall figure seemed desolate and lonely.

"The day after... Hahaha... The day after!" Sebastian's eyes instantly turned bloodshot as a wave of regret and pain surged over him.
