Mending a Broken Love (Sebastian and Roxanne) novel Chapter 54

Roxanne, who was furious, grabbed a cushion from the couch and hurled it at Sebastian, her eyes blazing with rage. "This is all your fault! If you didn't believe me, why did you say you did?"

If Sebastian had just told her he didn't believe her when it all happened, she could have still found evidence. But now, three years had passed. Any surveillance footage was long gone.

Sebastian stood up calmly, his cold, handsome face tinged with laziness. "So, you have no proof."

Roxanne absolutely hated that indifferent attitude of his.

Back then, Sebastian had thought—so what if Roxanne drugged him? They were boyfriend and girlfriend. Sleeping together was normal. And he was a man with needs. What did it matter when it happened?

Whether Roxanne drugged him or not made no difference to him. It hadn't caused any damage or lasting effects, so he didn't care.

But it mattered to Roxanne. Her name and her dignity had been dragged through the mud.

She had been naive, thinking it was enough that Sebastian believed her. What others thought didn't matter.

But the reality of things—the rumors, the insults, the slander she had endured over the years—had only grown worse because of that incident. And the worst part was, Sebastian had never truly believed her to begin with.

Her eyes reddened with anger. Her hand clenched into fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms. She stared at him with eyes filled with hatred, feeling as if she could drill holes through him just by looking. If she could, she would tear into his flesh and rip it apart just to ease the fury in her heart.

Sebastian saw the crimson fury in her eyes and the borderline manic expression on her face. That was when he realized he had gone too far.

He softened his tone. "Alright. No matter what the truth is, I don't care. You shouldn't either. If it's just about what others think, I'll help you clear your name."

Roxanne's eyes were instantly filled with tears. She bit her lower lip hard, refusing to let them fall. A wave of helplessness and despair swept over her.

Sebastian was always like this—never fully warm, never fully cold, never truly clear. He thought that by softening his tone, he was coaxing her—that he was yielding. He thought that she should take the cue and back down.
