Mending a Broken Love (Sebastian and Roxanne) novel Chapter 99

The solution in the IV bag was nearly empty. Roxanne pressed the bell that was near the top of her bed. In the next second, the door was pushed open. "The IV bag is empty. You can remove it," said Roxanne.

A warm and gentle voice responded, "Let me help you."

Roxanne lifted her head. Surprise was written all over her face when she noticed it was Zachary who walked in with a bouquet cradled in his arms. "Zachary, what are you doing here?" she asked.

An apologetic look crossed Zachary's face. "I was away at an event the last couple of days and only heard about what happened to you after I got back. I wanted to visit you, so I got your ward number from Elvira."

He kneeled down in front of Roxanne before grabbing the shaft the IV bag was attached to. He then carefully tore off the bandage on her hand and removed the needle. He pressed down firmly on the new bandage with his large hands. When he looked up, Roxanne could see the gentleness in his eyes.

"Does it hurt?" Zachary asked.

Roxanne felt warmth spread in her heart. She could feel his care radiating off him. She shook her head with a small smile on her face. "It doesn't hurt, Zachary."

"I'm the one who feels hurt," Zachary replied, his voice trembling. "I heard you jumped off a cliff?"

Roxanne's chest tightened. She explained, "I had calculated everything beforehand. The cliff wasn't too high up, only about 32 feet tall. The waters below were also very deep. I was confident because I knew how to swim."

She was lying. The cliff was at least 98 feet tall. She only knew that there was a body of water below it, but she didn't have any idea how deep it was. If the water had only been three feet in depth, she would have been flattened like a pancake after jumping.

But it was all in the past now, and Roxanne didn't want Zachary to worry. He was gazing at her deeply, and she could see how his eyes were shimmering as if he was going to shatter before her. Zachary wasn't lying—he was truly hurting for her sake.

Bitterness began to spread in her throbbing heart. She and Zachary had a normal junior-and-senior relationship. Due to how she only had Sebastian in her heart in the past, she never developed any interest in any other man and would naturally keep her distance from them.

It was only now that she realized that not everyone was cold and indifferent like Sebastian. Zachary's worry for her was obvious to see, and she could feel how strongly he cared for her.
