Josefina and Oliver made their way back to the Harrison household, finding themselves once more in the comforting presence of Grandpa Robert.
Grandpa Robert was pacing anxiously by the door, his eyes darting back and forth until they finally landed on Josefina. His face lit up with joy, and he hurried over, almost tripping in his excitement.
Oliver quickly stepped forward, steadying the old man with a gentle hand.
"Grandpa, please slow down," Josefina urged softly, her voice filled with concern.
"I got a bit too excited," Grandpa Robert admitted, relief evident in his voice. "Thank goodness Oliver was here to catch me."
"We should go inside and check on Grandma. I left some medical supplies here last time," Josefina suggested, her tone a blend of practicality and warmth.
Nodding, Grandpa Robert led them inside.
Josefina went straight to see her grandmother, while Oliver and Grandpa Robert waited by the door, their silence heavy with unspoken worry. Butler Martin soon appeared with two chairs, offering them a place to sit as they waited.
"Please, have a seat while you wait," Butler Martin said with a reassuring smile.
Grandpa Robert, too anxious about Emily's condition, refused to leave the hallway, wanting to be the first to know if there was any change.
Oliver sat beside him, providing silent support, both men lost in their own thoughts.
Inside the room, Josefina was administering acupuncture to her grandmother, hoping to ease the stiffness from lying still for so long. She then called her mentor, Alfie.
"Master Alfie, is the medicine for Grandma ready yet?" she asked.
"Josie, I'm afraid we're still missing one crucial ingredient that's not in season yet. We have to wait a bit longer," Alfie replied, his voice a mix of urgency and patience.
"Grandpa, come quick!" she called out excitedly.
Grandpa Robert hurried in, his voice trembling with hope. "Josie, has she woken up?"
"Not yet, Grandpa. But she's showing signs of consciousness. Talk to her, encourage her; it will help her wake up," Josefina explained.
Grandpa Robert, eyes brimming with tears, took Emily's hand. "Josie, your grandmother's hand is moving more. I believe she'll wake up soon. You're our lucky star," he said, his voice filled with emotion.
As he spoke, he noticed a tear at the corner of Emily's eye and gently wiped it away with his handkerchief.
"Emmy, Josie is our granddaughter, our true flesh and blood. There was a mix-up with Lena, but Josie is wonderful. You'll love her when you wake up," he said softly.
Josefina knelt beside the bed, her voice gentle and soothing. "Hi Grandma, it's Josie. I hope you'll wake up soon. Grandpa says you make the best roast chicken, and I can't wait to try it. I've learned to cook a lot of dishes too. When you're better, I'll make them just for you."
