Joelle frowned, clearly annoyed. "If you don't want to give us a ride, fine."
Haylee tried to smooth things over, saying, "Joelle, I'm sure Josie's being honest. Let's just grab a taxi."
Josefina chimed in, "I really am taking a cab myself."
Annoyed, Joelle pulled Haylee along. "Who knows how old that guy picking her up is. If she doesn't want to give us a ride, whatever."
Haylee winced from the tug. "Joelle, let go! You're hurting me!"
Joelle released her and kept walking. "Big deal she's got a ride. It's not even her car; it's some old guy's. What's she so proud of?"
Feeling helpless, Haylee said, "Joelle, Josie's not like that. I told you we could take a cab, but you insisted on asking."
"I was just trying to save you some money."
Haylee sighed, shaking her head, while Joelle's face remained a mask of displeasure, her dislike for Josefina evident.
…
Unaware of the drama, Josefina took a cab to Livia's apartment complex. She was startled when Finley suddenly blocked her path.
"Finley, are you out of your mind? Trying to scare me in broad daylight!" Josefina snapped.
Finley, trying to be friendly, asked, "Did something happen to Livia?"
"None of your business! Why don't you go bug Shay instead of hanging around here? Are you crazy? Livia's not a doctor; she can't fix your issues."
Josefina rushed into the building, leaving Finley standing there, looking a bit lost. He just wanted to know if Livia was okay.
…
"Ms. Josefina, I just made a couple of dishes. Why don't you come out and have some?" Lisa suggested.
Livia also urged Josefina to eat, so she reluctantly agreed. Sitting outside, Josefina was in a gloomy mood. The caller hadn't been found, and Livia's phone was lost. Tracking down the overseas call was like finding a needle in a haystack. The more she thought about it, the more she wished she could avenge Livia right then.
Lost in thought, Josefina was startled by the sound of dishes falling inside. She dropped her utensils and rushed in.
"Livia!"
Josefina and Lisa found Livia on the floor, surrounded by spilled food, clutching her head in pain. Quickly, Josefina scooped her up while Lisa fetched cleaning supplies.
"Livia, Livia, are you okay? Don't scare me," Josefina pleaded, her voice breaking as tears blurred her vision.
Livia looked at Josefina, smiling for the first time in a while, her voice full of comfort and confidence. "Josie, it's me. I'm back."
