Chapter 112
Amelia replied coolly. “I might not be free tonight–we have a project deadline at work.”
Sharpson didn’t seem suprised by her refusal and continued with a smile, “What about tomorrow? Or this weekend? You should make time to see your father occasionally
Just cut to the chase. And if you’re lonely, you can spend time with your precious daughter. I’m sure Valeria would be delighted, Amelia said, dropping all pretense
Sharpson’s expression immediately darkened. This ungrateful bratt
But considering Amelia might know Cassian, he swallowed his anger.
“You’re still my daughter–blood ties can’t be severed.” Sharpson said through gritted teeth.
Amelia let out a cold laugh. “You didn’t call to discuss family relations, did you? If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up, I’m busy.”
“Come home tonight. I need to ask you something important. You have to come,” Sharpson said urgently.
Before Amelia could respond, he hung up.
Amelia stared at her phone with a cold expression. She’d initially planned to ignore him, but she knew Sharpson’s nature–if she didn’t show up, he’d probably come to her office.
She might as well go see what he was scheming.
After work, Cassian had a business dinner, so Amelia went to the Sterling house.
Standing at the familiar yet foreign mansion door, Amelia took a deep breath and pushed it open.
In the living room, Sharpson sat on the sofa holding a teacup, looking relaxed. Hearing footsteps from the foyer, he looked up and immediately set down his cup when he saw Amelia.
“You’re back!” he said with unexpected enthusiasm.
Amelia frowned. Was Sharpson possessed?
Since when was he ever this welcoming?
She became more cautious. “Yeah.”
Just then, Whitney emerged from the kitchen with an exaggerated expression. “Amelia’s here! Come sit down, sweetie. I just made bird’s nest soup–I’ll bring you some.”
Amelia got goosebumps. What the hell?
What was wrong with these two?
Actually, Whitney had despised Amelia ever since Patricia’s birthday party. She wanted to tear her apart.
But Sharpson had warned her to be nice to Amelia because of her connection to Cassian.
Whitney thought it was ridiculous–obviously Cassian was just playing around. How could he be serious about Amelia?
But Sharpson didn’t care about the details. As long as Amelia could get close to Cassian and influence him, business opportunities would be endless.
Lately, Sterling Corporation hadn’t been doing well–competition was fierce, and the construction market was oversaturated.
Sharpson was looking for opportunities to diversify, but transformation required both opportunity and capital, plus experienced guidance.
Cassian would be the perfect mentor–one word from him could solve all of Sharpson’s problems.
