Two hours later, the hospital corridor.
"What the hell did you do to her? How did she suddenly become like this!"
William came out of the emergency room and tightly grabbed Euan's collar with both hands! The two men were of equal height and looked at each other. Anger erupted from each other at the same time. People came and went in the corridor outside the emergency room, but no one dared to stop and watch William and Euan argue.
Even those who had just passed by had walked around.
William was known as a gentleman at the hospital. But now he was fighting with MBK's Euan in the corridor of the hospital, pulling his collar! This was appalling.
The president of MBK was in the corridor of the hospital and Mr. Hardesty was holding him by the collar! This was even more appalling.
Euan's dark eyes burned with fury. He locked William's pupils, "Let go."
Not only did William not let go, but he also tugged harder and harder on the collar of his white shirt, "You really don't care about her at all! Do you know she's poisoned!"
"Poisoned? You said she was poisoned?" Euan's eyes suddenly contracted. This stupid woman had actually been poisoned?
He hadn't known. She hadn't said a word about it when she got home this morning.
"You didn't even know she was poisoned?!"
William grew angrier and angrier. He drew one hand into a fist and smashed it into Euan's face. And the latter swiftly reached out and grabbed his fist!
"Tell me, what's going on?" Euan's eyes erupted with murderous intent.
William broke his grip and loosened his collar at the same time, "She was poisoned last night. It was a strong poison. Although resuscitated in time, the residue of the poison is still in her system. So she had to undergo a complete purging of the poison. But this morning, she insisted on being discharged from the hospital ..."
At this point, William looked coldly at Euan. His elegant, clean face twisted with all the anger he could muster. He said, word for word, "She said something was going on at home!"
Ultimately, it was Euan's fault.
Euan was not afraid to take responsibility. But he flipped his hand and yanked William's collar. A lion-like murderous aura clouded his surroundings, "When is she going to wake up?"
"Depending on the patient's own condition. I don't know."
It was second-degree deterioration. Even he couldn't tell.
"You are the quack! I think you can get out of the hospital right now!"
He didn’t know! How could that be!
William smiled, somewhat bitterly and helplessly, "Yes, it was because of my poor medical skills that I was not able to cure her immediately. But you, Euan, as her husband, you were indifferent to your own wife. Isn't it all the more reason for you to get the hell out of her side?"
"Heh, in what status are you speaking to me now, Mr. Hardesty?" He said with cold sarcasm.
The awkwardness of William's identity was the biggest gap between the two. To say that they were leaders and colleagues would obviously be too feeble, "Why should one be in any status to do the right thing?"
Fine! Euan released the white coat from his grasp, "Say, what happened to her? How did she get poisoned? Where was she poisoned?"
William held back his anger. At this point, he couldn't hide it from Euan. After all, this was about the truth and the killer. Besides, Euan had a right to know.
"Last night, her best friend called me out of the blue. When I arrived at the hospital, she was already unconscious. It's something you'll have to ask her best friend about or wait until she wakes up and ask her."
William's soft face tightened with heartache.
Two thoughts unfolded simultaneously in Euan's mind. The first, it turned out that she had been poisoned. Secondly, the first person she thought of when she was poisoned was not actually him, but William.
Euan became even angrier.
"Riley!"
Seeing Riley being wheeled out of the emergency room, Sarah rushed wildly towards the stretcher, "I thought she was out of danger. Why did she go back in? You ..."
She gave a glare. Fuck, why was Euan here!
Fuck, why was this atmosphere so scary?
William looked at Riley's pale face and his heart ached, "There's been a little accident. You go to the ward and take good care of her. Thank you."
Seeing the two men in this position, Sarah didn't dare linger. She nodded and followed the stretcher to the ward.
Euan glanced coldly at William and turned to follow her.
"What happened last night?"
Euan's imposing demeanor scared Sarah into stammering. But as the victim, Sarah felt no need to chicken out.
So she described the events of last night.
Euan's cold eyes were tinged with fire, burning Sarah who immediately lowered her head. It was over. After all, it was her fault.
"So, Ms. Taylor, I really should thank you for taking her out and having a good night."
His voice was icy with terror.
Sarah gritted her teeth, "I ... I didn't know it was going to be like this."
Euan looked down at Sarah, who was a good deal shorter than he was, "She better be okay. Otherwise, you are to blame."
With those words, Euan didn't linger in the ward for more than a moment. He just strode away with his long legs wrapped in suit trousers.
His back was magnificent and he looked furious. Standing on the balcony, he dialed Elijah's number.
"Check everyone who showed up at the Yes Bar last night. Don't spare a single person!"
"Yes! I'll be right there."
Elijah didn't ask him why he was checking. But Euan was so angry, he thought something must have happened.
"If the bar doesn't cooperate with you, put it out of business for good tonight."
"Don't worry, boss. I'll check it out right away."
Poisoned? The poison would not have been drunk by her accidentally. Someone must be secretly trying to kill her.
"I'm going to call the doctor."
His voice was a little cold, with barely any emotion. No matter how carefully she listened, she couldn't hear the concern.
A sour taste came over her, "Thank you."
Her polite remark put distance between the two.
Before Euan could leave, William came in, followed by some doctors. As it was office hours, William was bound to be followed everywhere he went.
William was completely relieved to see Riley awake. The clean, well-fitting white coat looked surprisingly good on him. She had only noticed today that Mr. Hardesty stood out in the crowd.
"Well, it's trouble for you again, Mr. Hardesty."
"No trouble, how do you feel now? Does your stomach still hurt? Any more of that burning sensation? I gave you a booster antidote this morning, which will have the side effect of dizziness and a tickling throat. Don't be afraid, it'll go away in a few hours."
Riley wanted to laugh a little. Why did William just sound like he was talking to a child?
"It doesn't hurt anymore. I’m fine." She replied as Euan was still there.
"That's good!" The tension on William's face was replaced by a smile.
One of the doctors following behind him chuckled, "Dr. Watson, you don't know that Mr. Hardesty couldn't wait to finish examining the patients when he checked in just now. He even put off the Dean's summons and came straight from the inpatient unit."
Riley was touched and guilty, "Thank you ..."
"You and I don't have to be polite to each other ..." He saw Euan's expressionless face from the corner of his eye, "You're a talent for the hospital. You must get well soon. The hospital needs you."
Euan remained expressionless, but his heart was churning with anger. Finally, his anger merged into one sentence, "Since Mr. Hardesty is so busy, why don't you go?"
And he just blew William off ...
It really fitted Euan's style of doing things.
Turning back to look at her again, Euan's handsome face changed from icy to dark, "What? You couldn't wait to divorce me just to be in his arms?"
She didn't bother to talk to him!
"Euan, you're thinking too much. I simply want a divorce. It has nothing to do with anyone else."
"I don't think I'm thinking enough! You're flirting with him right in front of me. Did you even climb into his bed when I was away? Eh?!"
"You ..."
Unreasonable! Making slanderous charges!
While they were arguing, Euan's phone rang. It was Elijah's call.
"Boss, the net has been cast. We're just waiting for that murderer to take the bait."
Euan looked calmly at the stubborn woman, who was looking away, on the bed, and said in an icy voice, "I want to make sure that there is no risk at all. Nothing must happen to her ..."
