**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**
**Chapter 117**
Arabella pivoted on her heels, just in time to catch sight of Jayceon emerging from his sleek, polished vehicle. The sight was striking. He wore an impeccably tailored business suit, the kind that whispered wealth and power, complete with a perfectly knotted tie, an eye-catching brooch, and a watch that gleamed like a beacon of success. His luxury car, flanked by imposing bodyguards and an ever-efficient assistant, painted a vivid picture of his elevated status in society.
As he stood there, his tall frame and strikingly handsome features gave off an air of authority that was hard to ignore. To Arabella, he resembled a stoic deity stepping down from a lofty palace—cold, noble, and undeniably formidable.
Their eyes met briefly, and in that fleeting moment, a myriad of unspoken words hung in the air between them. Yet, neither chose to break the silence. Instead, they both averted their gazes and began walking toward their respective waiting rooms, each lost in their own thoughts.
Arabella reached for the door of waiting room number 2, pushing it open with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. Inside, Lawyer Patterson was diligently making her final preparations for the hearing that loomed ahead. The lawyer was a picture of focus, her brow furrowed as she reviewed the evidence of Jayceon’s affair. Arabella felt a surge of confidence; Jayceon had arrived punctually, and she was convinced that victory in this divorce case was within her grasp. The thought of reclaiming her freedom filled her with an overwhelming sense of relief, washing over her like a warm tide.
“Your phone needs to be off before the hearing, Miss Palmer. Is there anything else you wish to discuss?” Lawyer Patterson reminded her, her voice steady and professional.
Just as the lawyer was about to continue, a sharp knock echoed through the room, causing both women to look up. Arabella’s heart raced as Steve entered, flanked by two police officers. She exchanged a worried glance with Lawyer Patterson, her stomach tightening.
“Steve, is something wrong?” Arabella asked, her voice laced with concern.
Steve stood there, his demeanor respectful yet serious. “Mrs. Melendez, the police are here for you,” he stated, his tone grave.
One of the officers stepped forward, holding a detention warrant in his hand. “Ms. Arabella Palmer, we have reason to believe you are involved in the theft of confidential company documents, which has resulted in significant losses for your employer. You are under criminal detention. Please accompany us.”
Arabella felt her breath catch in her throat as her mind went into a frenzy. Buzzing thoughts raced through her head, and her complexion drained of color. The world around her began to spin, and she instinctively clutched the edge of the table, desperately trying to ground herself.
“It was your cousin, Mr. Leo Palmer, who implicated you,” Steve explained, his voice steady but filled with concern. “He claims you instructed him to steal confidential files from my phone and leak them to a rival company.”
Arabella stood frozen, disbelief washing over her like a cold wave. Her mind was a chaotic storm, unable to process the gravity of the situation.
“Ma’am, I reported everything to the police as soon as I learned of it. There must be some misunderstanding here,” Steve urged, his eyes pleading. “Perhaps you should clarify the situation with Mr. Melendez directly.”
Clarify? The thought sent a chill down her spine. Arabella let out a sharp, humorless laugh, the sound echoing in the tense air. She would rather endure the confines of a prison cell than return to that ‘cage’ of a marriage. She had never touched Steve’s phone, not once. Her conscience was clear, and she believed that justice would ultimately prevail.
