**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
By J.S. Caldwell

**Chapter 226**

Georgina’s voice quaked with an urgency that sent chills down Jay’s spine. “Jay, my mom just collapsed out of nowhere! I can’t believe this is happening!” Her eyes welled with tears, and the panic in her voice was palpable. “I said some really hurtful things earlier, and I regret it deeply. I swear, as soon as I get her settled in the hospital, I’ll come to your place and apologize properly.”

Without waiting for a response, Georgina sprinted toward the waiting ambulance, her face a portrait of desperation and fear. Arabella stood frozen, her heart heavy as she watched the ambulance pull away, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions swirling within her.

How could Georgina be so self-absorbed at a time like this? Arabella thought bitterly, her mind racing. I was foolish to hold her in such high esteem.

With a determined stride, Arabella crossed the street, her thoughts racing like the cars zooming past her. Jayceon was standing there, flanked by Samuel and Six, who formed a protective barrier around him, keeping him from following her until she had safely reached the other side and the traffic light turned red.

Samuel, sensing Jayceon’s dazed state, urged him, “Your mother-in-law is in the hospital. Aren’t you even going to check on her?”

Six, ever the joker, ran a hand through his disheveled hair and added with a smirk, “Come on, Sam. Jay’s only interested in the young one; the older generation doesn’t concern him. No need to feel responsible for both.”

Jayceon felt the weight of their words pressing down on him like an anchor. His mood had plummeted, and their careless remarks sent a jolt of guilt and confusion spiraling through him.

Later that afternoon, just past two-thirty, Arabella sat in her office, the atmosphere thick with tension. Her assistant, Sophie, knocked lightly before stepping in, clutching a medical report as if it were a ticking time bomb. “Director Palmer, your husband asked me to deliver this report to you as soon as it was ready.”

Arabella took the report, her eyes scanning the document with a critical gaze. “Please take it to the testing center and have them inform the person to pick it up directly.”

Sophie leaned in, her voice low and conspiratorial. “Director Palmer, you and your husband… is everything alright?”

Arabella met her gaze, her voice steady but laced with bitterness. “He cheated on me, fathered a child with another woman, and now we’re on the brink of divorce.”

Just moments ago, she had come from the inpatient department, where she had seen Georgina admit her mother. Two of her colleagues had witnessed the earlier chaos on the street, and Arabella knew it was only a matter of time before the entire department would learn that Georgina was entangled with her husband.

Since the divorce was inevitable, she thought, why not make a scene? The worst that could happen was Jayceon getting furious and throwing threats around again. But fear had no place in her heart. Julian had promised to protect her and her family, and she believed him wholeheartedly.

At exactly three o’clock, Arabella left the hospital for a house call. Sophie had just finished organizing the office and was about to leave when Jayceon knocked and entered, his demeanor tense, a storm brewing behind his eyes.

“Sophie, where’s Director Palmer?” he asked, scanning the room with a mix of urgency and frustration.

Sophie handed him the medical report, her expression a blend of annoyance and sympathy. “Dr. Palmer is out on a call. This report is meant for you.”

Jayceon glanced at the document briefly before handing it back to her with a dismissive wave. “Just give it to Dr. Palmer directly.”
