Not only that, but he had also taken it upon himself to secure a new place for her well ahead of time.
Men are all pigs.
They always seem to crave what lies just beyond their reach.
This was it; she had to grasp this final opportunity to truly connect with Jayceon.
As the clock ticked late into the night, Jayceon returned home to an enveloping darkness that felt almost suffocating.
With a weary sigh, he flicked the switch, and the lights flickered to life, illuminating the familiar space that now felt strangely empty.
As he bent down to change out of his shoes, a fleeting glance at the shoe rack revealed a noticeable absence. A few pairs were conspicuously missing, and a wave of unease washed over him. Jayceon knelt down, opening the shoe cabinet, his heart racing.
A sudden realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. He hurried into the living room, his pulse quickening, and found the master bedroom door ajar, swinging slightly as if beckoning him inside.
Cautiously, he stepped into the master bedroom, his heart pounding with each footfall. The bed was impeccably made, devoid of any signs that someone had rested there.
“Arabella!”
He called out her name, his voice echoing in the stillness as he moved toward the walk-in closet. With a swift motion, he yanked open her wardrobe, the door whooshing open to reveal an empty space where her clothes once hung like a vibrant tapestry of her life.
Jayceon felt the weight of despair crash over him as he sank to the floor, utterly drained. He instinctively reached into his pocket and pulled out the crystal glass pendant, his fingers trembling as he held it up. The tiny photograph of their baby stared back at him, and he felt a tightening in his chest.
As he pressed the pendant against his heart, tears began to well in his eyes, spilling over and tracing warm trails down his cheeks.
A sinking feeling gripped him.
Arabella wouldn’t be returning so easily this time.
The following day, as the sun climbed high into the sky, Jayceon found himself at the hospital, desperately seeking Arabella. However, her colleague informed him that she had taken a leave of absence.
Meanwhile, in the heart of the city, at a newly opened luxury villa development, Arabella emerged from the office with her parents, a mixture of excitement and anxiety swirling within her as they had just finalized the deposit.
Kayla glanced at her daughter, worry etched on her face.
“Arabella, are you sure about this?” she asked, concern lacing her voice.
