**Chapter 288**

In the stillness of the night, Jayceon found himself driving through the quiet streets, following the directions Steve had sent his way. The glow of the streetlights illuminated the path, guiding him to Arabella’s new residence.

As he pulled up in front of her place, he let the car window slide down slowly, the cool night air wafting in. Yet, he hesitated to step out, his heart racing with a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

The house, although not entirely detached, stood as an end unit, giving it a sense of privacy. The yard was meticulously maintained, vibrant flowers swaying gently in the breeze, creating a picturesque scene.

He lit a cigarette, the flame flickering momentarily before settling into a steady glow, a companion to his swirling thoughts.

The following morning, as dawn broke and Arabella arrived at the hospital, her assistant Sophie was quick to remind her of the unexpected visitor waiting in her office.

“Jayceon is here,” Sophie informed her, her tone a blend of curiosity and concern.

Arabella took a deep breath and walked into her office. The moment she stepped inside, she spotted Jayceon standing by the window, his back to her, engrossed in a phone call.

He was dressed in a stark black suit that seemed to swallow the space around him, making the room feel smaller, more confined.

When he finally turned around, their eyes locked, and the air between them thickened with unspoken words.

Arabella’s gaze flickered to the untouched breakfast on her desk, a silent testament to her busy morning. “What brings you here so early in the morning?” she asked, her voice steady, yet laced with curiosity.

Jayceon ended his call, the tension palpable as he approached her. “Why didn’t you tell me about something as significant as moving?” he queried, his brow furrowing in genuine confusion.

Arabella’s expression remained impassive as she replied, “This is my own business. Why should I share every detail with you?”

He stepped closer, reminding her, “We’re husband and wife.”

But she quickly corrected him, her voice sharp. “We’re already separated, and I want a divorce!”

A heavy silence enveloped them, as if the walls themselves were bearing witness to their unresolved issues.

After what felt like an eternity, Jayceon softened his tone, “Arabella, I didn’t come here to argue with you.”

As he turned to leave, he added, “Even if we’re separated, we still hold that title.”

Later that morning, in the CEO’s office at the Melendez Group, the atmosphere was tense.

Steve knocked lightly before entering, his demeanor serious. “Mr. Melendez, we’ve reviewed both of Ms. Carrillo’s phones, but we haven’t uncovered any suspicious contacts,” he reported, his brow furrowed with concern.
