**Chapter 318**
He gazed into the distance, his thoughts drifting back to that pivotal moment when he declared, “The moment I decided to marry Arabella, I was prepared to spend the rest of my life with her.” The conviction behind those words had not wavered, even now.
On that particular Wednesday, a storm was brewing in the world of the Melendez Corporation, as news broke about Jayceon’s divorce. The announcement sent ripples through the community, stirring conversations and raising eyebrows.
Later that afternoon, Arabella found herself seated across from Franklin at a cozy restaurant, the ambiance warm yet charged with unspoken emotions. Franklin leaned in slightly, his voice steady, “I didn’t expect your divorce to go so smoothly. Since it’s come to this, just let things take their course.” His tone was neutral, devoid of any hint of celebration or pity.
Arabella couldn’t help but notice that Franklin refrained from offering a congratulatory remark. Instead, she responded with a calm smile that masked the whirlwind of thoughts inside her. “I had initially planned to gather you, Julian, and everyone else for a meal, but alas, Julian is off in Country R and won’t return for a few days.” She sighed softly, feeling the absence of her friends.
“But still, I owe you my gratitude, Franklin,” she continued, her voice sincere. If it hadn’t been for Franklin’s assistance, the mandatory 30-day cooling-off period would have felt like an eternity, stretching her already frayed nerves.
Franklin returned her smile, his demeanor warm and reassuring. “Dr. Palmer, you don’t need to be so formal with me. It’s simply a reflection of the relationship you and Mr. Melendez shared. He was willing to part ways amicably, which speaks volumes.”
His ability to navigate the delicate balance of support without crossing lines was something Arabella appreciated. He neither exaggerated her worth nor belittled Jayceon, allowing her to feel at ease in his presence.
Beside Franklin, Edmundo had remained quiet, a well-behaved child who observed the adults with wide eyes. Once their conversation reached a natural pause, he gently tugged on his father’s sleeve, his voice barely above a whisper, “Dad, can I ask Mom to help me pick out some cool sneakers?”
Franklin glanced at Arabella, a knowing smile playing on his lips. Arabella responded with enthusiasm, “Edmundo, from now on, if you want your godmother’s help, just ask me directly!” Her eyes sparkled with affection as she spoke, and Edmundo, having missed her presence over the past few days, offered a shy smile in return.
With that, the trio exited the restaurant, stepping into the vibrant world of the mall. Arabella led the way, her heart light as she guided Edmundo through the stores, while Franklin trailed behind, dutifully pushing a shopping cart filled with potential treasures.
Unbeknownst to them, this simple scene of familial joy caught the attention of Georgina and her mother, Gloria, who were out shopping themselves. Georgina’s eyes widened with excitement as she whipped out her phone, snapping several pictures of the trio. “Look at them!” she exclaimed, her voice barely contained.
