**Chapter 354**
As Arabella fell into a contemplative silence, Amanda couldn’t help but smile, a glimmer of mischief dancing in her eyes. “Dr. Palmer,” she said playfully, “you really don’t need to look at me like that. Sure, I might be a handful of years older than you, but that just means we come from different perspectives on this whole marriage thing.”
With a knowing nod, Amanda continued, “For people like us, marriage is a practical arrangement, built on mutual benefit. As long as the foundation is strong, I don’t mind if he has a few other women on the side.”
Arabella found herself admiring Amanda deeply. The woman radiated a kind of confidence and clarity that Arabella wished she had possessed in her own life. If only she had embraced that kind of understanding back when she still believed in fairy tales, perhaps she wouldn’t have found herself in such a dismal state.
After a long pause, Arabella finally spoke, her voice soft but sincere. “Miss, I genuinely hope you get everything you wish for.”
Amanda watched as Arabella strode away with a newfound determination, her previously warm expression gradually turning icy. “You’ve been eavesdropping long enough, Olivia. Come on out,” she called, her tone shifting to one of authority.
Olivia emerged from the restroom, her posture awkward and hesitant. She approached Amanda, her voice low and urgent. “Miss, please don’t let that conniving Arabella deceive you.”
Amanda frowned, her brow furrowing in confusion. “If you have something to say, then just say it, Olivia.”
With a hint of disdain, Olivia replied, “Even though that vile Arabella divorced Mr. Melendez, she’s still entangled with him. She’s cunning and manipulative, always plotting against others.”
Olivia leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “She can’t let go of the Melendez family’s wealth and glamour, and she’s still hung up on Mr. Melendez. She told me herself. Miss, you mustn’t let her schemes ensnare you.”
Amanda scrutinized Olivia, her gaze piercing. “Are you attempting to use me as a pawn in your little game?”
Panic flickered across Olivia’s face as she quickly denied it. “Miss, you’ve misunderstood me entirely. I was merely offering you a friendly warning. If my words bother you, then just pretend I never said anything.”
Before Amanda could respond, Olivia hurried away, her footsteps echoing in the corridor.
At the far end of the hallway, just as Arabella turned to head towards the stairs, a strong hand suddenly grasped her arm and yanked her into a dimly lit room.
The sound of the door locking behind her sent a shiver down her spine. Arabella turned to find Jayceon standing before her, his dark eyes fixed on her with an intensity that made her heart race.
**Chapter Ska**
“What did Amanda say to you?” Jayceon’s voice was low, almost a growl, as he stared at her intently.
Arabella shrugged off his grip, irritation bubbling to the surface. “Just some trivial pleasantries. If you doubt me, why don’t you go ask her yourself?”
Jayceon fell silent for a moment, his expression unreadable, before he finally spoke. “Whatever she told you, just ignore it. I have no intention of getting engaged to her.”
