Samuel shot Jayceon a look brimming with frustrated disappointment before turning away to find Kimberly and Arabella.

By the time he reached them, Kimberly had finally coaxed Arabella downstairs.

Arabella forced a faint, fragile smile when she saw Samuel, but it barely masked the pain in her eyes.

Samuel gently ruffled her hair, his voice soft with sympathy. “You don’t have to smile. It almost looks like you’re about to cry.”

And then the tears she had been holding back spilled over uncontrollably.

Arabella and Kimberly had been friends since they were children, and Arabella had a longstanding engagement arrangement with Jayceon from those early years.

Samuel’s eyes widened in shock. “Why do you need 150 million dollars?”

Kimberly was equally stunned. “Arabella, did Jayceon…”

Arabella buried her face in her arms, her voice muffled. “When my family went bankrupt and owed huge debts, he helped pay off the external ones. All these years, he’s been supporting my parents and my brother. I owe him.”

Kimberly’s surprise deepened. She had assumed Jayceon had settled the accounts with Arabella and was demanding repayment.
