My Best Friend’s Father Wants me novel Chapter 28

Nathan:

I grabbed my phone as she stormed off.

“Adam, get Miss Lopez back here, immediately.”

I was restless. The shredded return receipt danced across my table in its jagged pieces. She was mad. I had never thought that she could be so angry.

My eyes closed and I imagined the clumsy girl that fell off her seat in the airplane. She was naive, young but smart. She was a good girl, an obedient one.

My fingers raked through my hair and sighed. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. The way she felt in bed. She was soft and tight. Her body smelled amazing. Fuck! Her moans…

My phone lit up and I grabbed it.

“Adam?”

“She left, Sir. She probably got on a taxi.”

Shit!

“Get the car ready. Now.”

I packed up my stuff and dashed out of my office. I had to stop her.

“Mr. Wright. I thought you had…”

I dashed past Ms. Catherine and she gasped in shock. If she wanted to tell me something important, she could call.

Adam was just pulling the car in front of the building as I got outside. I jumped in and he got in the driver’s seat and revved up the engine.

Bang!

The car sunk in the back and I banged the front headrest in anger.

Adam jumped out to check but I already knew what it was. Damn it! Time was ticking. I didn’t have much time left. If she left, I would never be able to find her here.

The trunk was tossed open and Adam took out the stare tyre. I groaned. I didn’t have the time to wait for him to change it.

“Adam,” I called, slamming the door behind me as I got out of the car. “Get the tire changed and meet me at the hotel.”

Adam nodded and I went to flag down a taxi.

He pulled to a stop and the front mirror lowered slowly.

“Where to Sir?” the lady at the wheel asked kindly. Her face flushed a deep red as soon as she saw me and she fixed her hair.

“Cala Devant.”

She nodded and I got in. It smelled primmed and pretty. I had never been in a taxi in years and definitely not one driven by a female.

She zoomed away and I sat quietly in the back, avoiding her almond gaze in the driving mirror. My feet tapped lightly and anxiously on the carpeted floor. Forty-five minutes…it had been forty-five minutes since Enora left. She was probably out of the hotel by now.

I growled. Damn it! I should have stopped her immediately she tried to leave. I fidgetted and my breathing increased. I looked through the windshield at the incoming traffic. Couldn’t this car go any faster?

“Miss, I am kind of in a hurry. Can you drive a bit faster?”

I never had to deal with this when Adam was driving me.

“I’m trying my best but this is a school zone and I am even going thirty miles per hour.”

I slumped back in my chair. I wasn’t going to make it in time. I opened my browser and began searching for other hotels in the city. I was going to find her if it was the last thing I did.

~~~
We pulled up at Cala Devant and I shoved a wad of cash in her hand.
“Sir, I can’t start figuring out the change for this. The meter only says…”
