As soon as Jessica saw the flowers, she felt a headache coming on.
Chris said that since she spent long hours in front of the computer, there should be a small green plant on the desk. This would purify the air and protect her eyes. When tired, looking at it could relieve fatigue.
But the green plant died in less than a month after being placed there, and Shannon took it out to throw it
away.
Shannon now had an extra task.
Whenever a green plant on the desk died, she had to throw it away and replace it with a new one. She had to make sure that every time Chris went to the CEO’s office, he would see “the plant he gave” thriving and full of life in front of the computer.
–
Shannon thought it was unnecessary – very unnecessary.
But this was the gentleman’s sentiment toward Jessica. As a secretary, to maintain the CEO’s happy family life, she had no choice but keep this up.
“I also bought two pots for Mom. They just arrived this year, they’re not available domestically,” Chris said happily. He found a sunny spot and carefully placed them down. “Mom really likes these things.”
Hearing Chris call “Mom” so naturally and fluently made Jessica happy.
But she also knew that in times like this, Chris inevitably thought of his biological mother – the mother resting underground who would never see such bright flowers again.
“Perfect. Order two more pots, and before the New Year, we’ll send them to my mother–in–law. One pot for my dad and one for your mom.” Jessica squatted down beside Chris.
Chris froze for a moment and smiled with his head lowered.
“Okay, let’s do that. Mom and Dad will definitely be happy to see them.”
Jessica’s thoughtfulness surprised Chris.
Since Jessica learned that Chris’s mother had passed away and had arranged for her mother–in–law’s grave to be moved to the same cemetery as her father, she always made sure to visit during holidays. She would also personally buy the flowers when she visited as well.
Compared to before, this showed much more attention.
Chris felt very satisfied.
Regarding their current life, a few years ago, Chris wouldn’t have dared to dream of such things.

The phone rang. It was Shannon calling, and Jessica got up to answer.
“Matthew agreed, but he said he didn’t want a jewelry endorsement. He wants something else,” said
Shannon.
Jessica sat on the sofa eating fruit that Chris had prepared. “What does he want?”
“He said that the new computer developed by the Wilder Group’s IT department sold very well abroad recently. He wants to be the IT department’s endorsement, he thinks it would be more valuable than jewelry.”
Jessica cocked her brows.
