Chapter 212
Jessica massaged her temples, her slender fingers tapping on the desk.
Shannon placed the food down and asked, “You’ve been quite tired recently, Ms. Wilder, should I book a massage for you? I checked Miss Felton’s schedule–at three o’clock this afternoon, you two could go
together.”
Discussing things with Nina would be good as well, so Jessica nodded, and Shannon immediately went
out to arrange it.
Since the two companies were allies, the departments that communicated most often were the
secretaries.
To coordinate joint projects between the companies and to maintain personal ties between the employers, the secretaries had to handle a lot of work.
First was the coordination of communication within the company, and second was arranging the employers‘ schedules to ensure they met as needed.
Chris had just finished a surgery–a difficult one with a low success rate.
Everyone had been tense, and once relieved from that high–pressure situation, Chris called Jessica to
ease the stress.
“Are you two together?” asked Chris as he heard Nina’s voice suddenly appeared on Jessica’s end, saying, “Don’t start with the lovey–dovey stuff.”
Jessica turned her head and glared at Nina.
She could hear the tension from the earlier surgery in Chris’s tone.
Whenever Chris came out of a high–stress operation, he would always call her.
Being needed by Chris made Jessica feel good.
“Then I won’t disturb you two sisters,” Chris said with a laugh before hanging up.
Nina had been a childhood neighbor and friend.
For her to become so close with his wife now–it felt good.
Only at that moment did Chris truly feel how tightly he and Jessica were connected. They were
practically inseparable.
After hanging up, Jessica set her phone aside.
The masseuse’s warm hands pressed onto her shoulders.

“He must have just finished surgery. The success rate wasn’t high, and he called me to relieve his stress,” explained Jessica.
Even during the spa, Nina had to reply to work messages on her phone.
Sometimes she also had to talk to Matthew, leaving her with no time to notice the satisfied expression
on Jessica’s face.
“Alright, I get it–your marriage is going well. I think Michael knows that too.”
Speaking of this, Nina put down her phone and said helplessly, “My brother had been looking for Elfa for so long, and it turns out he was Michael.”
Being with Chris had given Roy plenty of chances to capture Michael.
Yet Elfa had slipped away from him, even returning abroad and cleaning up his identity.
For some reason, the higher authorities began pressuring Roy, saying that the Aitairy case should not be pursued for the time being.
The Major Crimes Unit was temporarily disbanded, and they had to wait for official approval to continue
the investigation.
Roy got furious immediately.
He kicked open his superior’s office door and stormed in, pointing at him and cursing.
The superior didn’t dare say a single word–he could only try to comfort Roy.
Roy wasn’t just any subordinate, he was practically the department’s overlord. He was a man with high status, great power, immense wealth, and a strong–willed younger sister.
None of them could afford to offend him.
