My Dad's Bestfriend (Evelyn and Jacob) novel Chapter 238

Ten Months later….

“Say ‘dada,’” Jacob coaxed Sienna, waving a little plushie in front of her. “Say ‘dada.’”

I chuckled as I prepared her snack bowl, shaking my head. “How many times are you going to make her say that?”

He pouted like a kid. “She only said it once! And now she won’t say it again. Can you make her?”

I laughed softly. “If you keep pestering her, she’ll never want to say it. You know she’s got that sassy streak just like you.”

Jacob grinned, nudging me. “Hey, that sass? Totally from you.”

“Hey,” I fired back, pretending to be offended, “Don’t you dare pin that on me.”

“Then maybe she got it from Samuel,” he shrugged. “He’s the sassiest one in this whole house.”

I raised an eyebrow and gave him a warning look. “Let’s not forget he’s threatening to kick you out of his house for the rest of your trip here if you keep blaming him.”

He smirked, confident. “Well, me and Sienna could totally beat your daddy-daughter duo any day. She’s always on my side.”

Right then, Sienna let out a tiny, frustrated baby yell—a clear “Dada!”—while reaching for the plushie Jacob had cleverly kept just out of reach.

“Oh my God, did you hear that?” Jacob started to boast.

Before he could finish, she snatched the toy from his hand, shooting him what I swear was a side-eye. Was that sass really from me?

“Yes, Jacob—I heard that loud and clear,” I laughed. “And I saw how frustrated she was because you took her favorite toy just to get her to say it again. You’re pure evil, you know that?”

Jacob feigned innocence. “That’s just your imagination, miss. I was just creating the perfect opportunity for her to say my name.”

“Yeah, same difference.”

“Whatever,” he said, making a face, then took the bowl from me and lifted Sienna up onto the countertop. She sat quietly, inspecting her bunny plush, tugging on its ears and nose. “Today, daddy’s feeding the princess.”

I smiled watching him bring a spoonful of apple custard to her mouth. The moment she smelled it, her little mouth opened wide.

“Yay! There goes my princess,” Jacob beamed, and seeing him like that made my own smile shine brighter.

God, I loved those two so much.

As he fed her, I quietly made breakfast for Jacob, watching them both—Sienna in her cute pajamas and tiny headband, and Jacob, as usual, shirtless and completely adoring her. My heart felt like it might burst.

Suddenly, Jacob’s stomach growled—loud enough to make us both laugh. He always forgot to eat when he got caught up with Sienna in the mornings.

“Evelyn…” he said, eyes pleading, already knowing what he was about to ask—“Can you make me breakfast? Please? I want to spend more time with our baby.”

“It’s ready, Mr. I-Forget-My-Meals,” I teased, handing him a plate with a sandwich and scrambled eggs.

He sighed with relief and leaned forward, mouth open. “Please?”

I raised the sandwich and looked at him playfully. “You know, when I had Sienna, I never once thought I’d be raising two babies.”

He took a bite without missing a beat. “Hey, I was here first. Sienna came later. So, my rights come first, don’t they?”

“But my Sienna—”

“She’ll be right back to my room after her bath. Don’t worry,” I said, holding the sandwich up to his mouth. It took a moment for him to trust me, but eventually he opened his mouth and took a bite.

“Excuse me?” I looked at him, surprised. “Isn’t that the point? The wedding’s eight months away—I need to be thin as soon as I can!”

He shook his head, chuckling between bites. “How many times do I have to tell you? You’re hot as hell no matter what size you are.”

“I know, but I want to feel like myself again,” I said softly, grabbing a forkful of scrambled eggs and feeding it to him. “Besides, I want the dress to hug me like a second skin.”

He thought for a second, then pulled me even closer, kissing my neck softly. “Do whatever makes you happy, but please don’t stress yourself. You’re already working all day, chasing after Sienna, juggling a million things. I don’t want you getting sick.”

His breath was warm against my skin as he nuzzled my neck, his hands sliding lower to cup my ass. “So, should I just fuck you right here, or should we take this to the bedroom?”

Was it normal to get turned on that fast? Because hell, I definitely was. Just a small touch from him and I was ready.

“Well... you haven’t finished your—”

“I’d rather have something sweeter for now,” he whispered, his kisses tracing down to my collarbone. His hand slid slowly between my legs, cupping me gently. “And I don’t think there’s anything sweeter than this.”

A soft gasp escaped me. “Jacob, not here…”

“Then our room it is,” he murmured with a smirk pressed against my skin. Before I could react, he lifted me up effortlessly and headed toward our room.
