Quennel turned to Hannah, waiting for her answer.
Hannah, who hadn't spared Lionel a single glance, looked at Quennel and said, “I’d appreciate it if you could give me a ride home later, Quennel.”
“It’s no trouble at all. It would be my honor.”
Hannah couldn't help but chuckle at his words.
She never thought she’d hear Quennel say something so cheesy. It was actually quite funny, and she wasn't used to it.
Lionel’s face darkened, his hands clenching into tight fists.
He couldn’t believe she would reject him so bluntly right in front of Quennel.
Taking a deep breath, he turned to their grandmother. “Grandma, I’ll take Hannah home. Let Quennel get back to the office. His company is in the opposite direction of Hannah’s house. It would be a shame to hold up his work.”
Grandma Rosenberg, who had been silently listening to the brothers bicker, was startled when Lionel suddenly addressed her.
Before she could respond, Quennel spoke. “Are you implying that Hannah would be holding up my work? Why would you think that? I don't feel that way, so what gives you the right to decide for me?”
Hannah’s eyes flashed with disgust. Lionel’s words were a clear attempt to put both her and Quennel on the spot.
If his work was delayed, he could blame her later.
