Chapter 189
Adrian’s POV
The sun started rising, and I held her tighter as she began to stir.

“Mh.” Her soft moan of contentment as she nuzzled into my chest allowed me to relax.

I pushed aside my hesitation and kissed the top of her head, ‘Good Morning.”
“Good Morning. How did you sleep? I kept my voice low. The calm quiet of the morning felt like a peaceful bubble as the room grew brighter with every passing minute. I didn’t want to disrupt that.
“I love sleeping in your arms,” She smiled with her lips together before kissing my chest.
“I love having you in my arms.”
“Thank you for coming to find me.” Her fingers danced over my chest, and I chuckled when she began to circle my nipple.
“I’ll always find you.” I began to roll over, wanting to lay on top of her and kiss her senseless but caught myself once I had turned onto my shoulder. I was positive that the fastest way to ruin the morning would be for me to make her feel crushed or trapped in this bed.
She pushed herself up, her forest–green eyes meeting mine, her lips just inches away when my phone suddenly rang, breaking the spell
between us.
I sighed, reaching for the device on the nightstand. “It’s Ryder.”
“Alpha Adrian, we found him,” Ryder’s voice came through clearly, a hint of satisfaction evident in his tone. “We’ve got Victor secured at the motel I mentioned yesterday. Been working on him for about an hour, but he’s not talking much yet.”
My body tensed immediately, wolf instincts rising to the surface. “Send me the address. I’ll be there soon.”
I hung up and quickly got dressed. My wolf was alert now, ready to confront the threat to our pack.
Skye sat up, pulling the sheet around herself as she watched me with concern. “They found Victor?”
“Yeah,” I confirmed, running a hand through my hair. “You can stay here and rest. You don’t need to face that asshole.”
Skye’s
eyes flashed with determination as she slid out of bed and reached for her own clothes. “I’m not that fragile, Adrian. I’m your Beta now, and I need to know who’s behind all this.” She pulled on her jeans with quick, efficient movements. “If I don’t find out, it’s not just me who’s in danger. It’s you, Ryder, Lydia… all of us.”
I nodded, admiring her strength even as my protective instincts wanted to shield her from more trauma. I stepped closer and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I’m so lucky to have you.”
We grabbed breakfast sandwiches from a drive–through and headed to the motel where Ryder had directed us. The morning traffic was light, and I drove with one hand on the wheel, the other occasionally reaching for Skye’s, needing the reassurance of her touch.
Beck stood outside the rundown motel watching our arrival, his broad shoulders and Kane–like features instantly recognizable. His two companions lounged nearby, watching the parking lot with alert eyes despite their casual postures.

“I know the owner,” Beck said as we approached, jerking his thumb toward the office. Already squared things away with him. Whatever you need to do to that piece of shit in there, no one’s gonna interrupt.”
I nodded my appreciation. “Thanks.”
“No problem, Beck replied, gesturing to his companions who were eating from a large bucket of fried chicken despite the early hour. “Want some? They always order too much.”
“We already had breakfast,” Skye replied, standing close to my side.
Beck shrugged. “Your guy’s in the storage room at the end of the hall. Ryder’s been keeping him company?

When I first met Beck yesterday, I had formed a terrible impression of him. Maybe because he looked so much like Kane, with the same sharp jawline and calculating eyes. After learning he was Kane’s cousin, my guard went up even more. But perhaps I’d judged too harshly. He was rough around the edges, clearly comfortable with violence, but didn’t seem completely unprincipled.
