Bound To My Mafia Stepuncles novel Chapter 141

Chapter 141

POV: Aria

The next morning came slow, heavy like fog. I blinked up at the ceiling, trying to remember where I was. The bed under me was soft, the room warm. But my body still ached, and the memory of being trapped in that van clung to me like smoke.

I sat up slowly, my limbs stiff and sore. I’d slept in one of the boysTshirts, and even though I’d showered twice, I still didn’t feel clean. My cheek throbbed faintly where the bruise had darkened overnight, I ran my fingers lightly over it and sighed.

Voices drifted from the kitchen. I could tell it was the triplets. Their tones were low but tense. I got up, walked quietly, and stopped just outside the kitchen door.

We can’t keep her here,Enzo said. It’s not safe. They knew exactly where to find her.

We need to act before they do,Matteo added.

Dante stayed quiet.

I stepped in, and they all looked at me.

You’re talking about me like I’m not even here,I said.

Enzo stood. Ariawe were going to talk to you. We need you to come with us. To Italy.

I blinked. What?

Matteo came closer. It’s the only way we can protect you. We have people there. A safe house. Security. You’ll be watched day and night.

So you want to hide me away like a secret? Lock me up because someone might come after me again?

It’s not like that,Enzo said quickly.

Then what is it like?My voice rose. You think dragging me to another country without warning is going to fix this? I’m not running. I’m not leaving.

Dante finally spoke, quiet but firm. They hurt you, Aria. We can’t let that happen again.

I’m not a porcelain doll. I can make my own decisions. You don’t get to decide where I go, even if you think it’s for my safety.

The silence that followed was thick. Enzo looked like he wanted to argue, but I turned and walked away before he could. I needed space. Air. Anything but the tightness in my chest.

I stepped outside, pulling my hoodie tighter around me. The cold air stung, but it cleared my head. I barely got to the end of the street before I heard a voice I didn’t want to hear.

Well, look who finally came out of hiding.

Cassandra.

She stood with her arms crossed, a smirk on her face. Her eyes scanned my bruise and the shadows under my eyes.

You always wanted to be the center of attention, she said. Guess it worked.

I tried to walk past her, but another voice cut in.

He hand shot mil, but I caught her wrist midair. Years of quiet endurance had sharpened something inside me, and I wasn’t afraid anymore.

Try that again. I dered, my grip tightening. I dare you.

Her mother stormed toward me, face Bushed, eyes sharp with something ugly. Don’t you talk to us like that, Aria! You ungrateful little

Say it.I snapped, stepping between them. My heart pounded, but I stood my ground. Go on. Say what you’ve been dying to say. You know more than you’re letting on. About the people who took me. About why they came. Don’t you?

They both froze. And that silence told me everything.

My blood ran cold. She knew something. More than she was saying. And Cassandra did too. The way they looked at meit wasn’t just cruel. It was knowing.

Cassandra lunged first, her palm slicing through the air toward my cheek, but I caught her wrist midswing. Hard. My fingers dug into her skin as i stared her down, unblinking. That was your last mistake,I said, my voice low, calmdangerous.

You think you’re strong now, huh?she spat, trying to yank her arm free. “You’re nothing. Aria. You always needed someone to save you.

I shoved her back. No. What I needed was a family who didn’t feed off my pain like parasites.

Her mother stepped in, eyes blazing. You think you’re owed something? After everything we’ve done for you?

Done to me,I corrected sharply. My voice cut through the room like a blade. You treated me like a burden. Like I didn’t belong. But here’s the truthyou know something. About the people who took me. About why. And if you lie to my face right now, I swearI’ll burn every secret you’re hiding to the ground.

They went quiet. Cassandra’s smug expression faltered. Her mother looked away.

And in that silence, I found confirmation. They weren’t just cruel. They were complicit.

Stay away from me,I whispered.

She grabbed my arm roughly, nails digging into my skin. You think those boys can protect you? You don’t even know who they really are. Or who you are.

I yanked my arm free just as someone grabbed my other hand. Matteo.

Let’s go,he said, pulling me gently but firmly away.

I didn’t fight him.

Back at the house, the mood had shifted. The boys were quiet again, but this time, it feltheavier. Like they’d made a decision,
