Judging by their expressions, it looked like they hadn’t spotted Tristan Davis yet.
But if Tristan hadn’t hidden himself, he would have been right in their line of sight—there’s no way they wouldn’t have seen him from this angle.
Emily Blair didn’t know what kind of history Tristan had with those two men, but honestly, it didn’t matter for what she was thinking.
She put the pieces together, glanced down at him, and said quietly, “I get it now. Those two are looking for you, right? You don’t want to be found?”
Tristan gave a soft grunt in reply, not bothering to explain further.
Emily arched an eyebrow, her lips curling into a sly smile. “Okay, I’ll help you. But you need to do something for me in return.”
“You—” Tristan paused, frowning, and his ears flushed red as he stammered, “I’m not agreeing to anything.”
Emily rolled her eyes in exasperation. “What exactly do you think I’m going to ask?”
Just then, Elizabeth Wilson glanced over with a suspicious look. “What are you two doing over there? This is a public place, you know—don’t get any ideas.”
Emily groaned. “Seriously, what’s going on in your heads?”
Turning her attention back to Tristan, she grinned and teased, “So, you’ve been studying computers since you were a kid?”
Tristan nodded. “Yeah.”
“How far did you get? Are you any good?”
He shot her a look. “Are you doubting me?”
Emily nodded cheerfully. “Okay, got it.”
She glanced up again toward the two men, making sure they still hadn’t noticed them. Then she grabbed the pillow from behind her and propped it up against the glass wall, blocking Tristan’s face from view and shielding him from anyone peeking inside.
“You know I study computer science, right?” she asked.
