My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 520

At least now, she finally had some confidence.

Emily Blair curled her lips into a smile. “Because Mr. Lane and I aren’t a couple. Tristan Davis is my boyfriend.”

Andrew Lane’s expression was unreadable. “Well, look at you—you’ve grown up and even brought your boyfriend home.”

Emily just smiled, saying nothing.

As they talked, they reached the study.

Emily was about to knock, but Andrew stopped her with a quiet command. “No need to knock. He’s not in there.”

She glanced in the direction he indicated. “My old room?”

Andrew simply grunted, offering no further explanation.

Emily hesitated, lowering her raised hand. “Why is Grandpa Kevin in my old room instead of the study?”

Andrew ignored her question. He turned, opened the door, and went in without another word.

Something felt off, but with so many people downstairs—and Tristan among them—Emily followed him in.

Andrew lingered by the door, and as soon as she stepped inside, he shut it behind her.

The lights were bright, newly replaced by the look of them.

Emily stood in the doorway, her emotions a tangled mess.

The room was exactly as she’d left it—her comforter, her pillow, even the bookshelf stood in the same spots, only now everything looked even cleaner and neater than before.

Except for one thing: a piano sat in the middle of the room, out of place and unfamiliar.

Emily stared at it, momentarily stunned, then composed herself and took a slow survey of the space. She walked out onto the balcony, scanning every corner.

When she returned, she stood at the threshold, arms folded, her face cold and closed off.
