My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 524

They watched with their own eyes as Emily Blair and Andrew Lane didn’t head to the study in the villa, but instead disappeared into Emily’s old bedroom.

At that moment, their expressions shifted, caught somewhere between surprise and discomfort, unsure what to say.

Tristan Davis had never been to The Lane Estate before and couldn’t tell which room Emily and Andrew had entered. Still, he immediately picked up on the awkward looks exchanged by those around him.

A little coaxing later, he finally learned the truth: Emily and Andrew hadn’t gone to the study—they’d gone to Emily’s former room!

Andrew Lane was playing dirty.

The moment he realized what was happening, Tristan had to fight the urge to charge upstairs, drag Emily out, and punch Andrew in the face.

But he understood. He understood exactly why Emily had come to The Lane Estate in the first place.

He understood even more how much Emily’s career and the company meant to her.

No matter how jealous or angry he felt, he couldn’t ruin her chance at this partnership.

So Tristan sat on the couch, forcing himself to wait, swallowing his frustration.

When the sound of the piano drifted down from upstairs, Tristan knew instantly—it had to be Emily playing.

After five years together, he’d heard her play countless times. He knew every nuance of her touch on the keys.

As soon as the first notes reached his ears, he couldn’t help but wonder.

What kind of conversation required Emily to play piano alone with Andrew Lane? Just the two of them, behind closed doors?

A beautiful woman dressed to the nines, a handsome man—if this were a movie, everyone knew where this scene was headed.

Dennis glared at him, sticking out his tongue. “It’s bad! It’s just bad, bad, bad! My mom could play better with her toes!”

Tristan clicked his tongue. “You want to keep sassing me, huh?”

Isabella was secretly delighted by her son’s loyalty—how could she be upset with him? Thanks to Dennis’s antics, much of the gloom in her heart faded away.

After all, Andrew Lane had listened to her play for years. How could he possibly be impressed by Emily?

She was a true expert—after only a few moments, she could tell Emily’s skills had faded, nowhere near what she’d been in high school, and certainly no match for herself.

Holding Dennis close, Isabella put on a polite smile and said, “Sorry, kids don’t know any better. I’ll be sure to talk to him.”

But Dennis wriggled free from her arms, covered his ears, and wailed, “Mom, I don’t want to listen anymore! It’s so bad, really! Can we please go upstairs and make that mean lady stop?”
