My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 4

Their acting was flawless.

And she had been deceived for so many years, only realizing the truth after they had devoured her whole.-

Rebekah's expression was strangely blank. She lowered her gaze and, for the first time, asked calmly, "It's been three months. They still haven't found the person who framed me? My hand, my legs… is there any hope?"

What she really wanted to ask was if they felt even a shred of pity for her.

Her voice, clear in the quiet room, seemed to startle Benjamin. "Rebekah, I'll do everything I can to get justice for you. And I'll find a way to heal your hand."

Shawn leaned over the bed, gently taking her other hand. "Don't be sad, Mom. The doctors here aren't the best, that's all. Dad has already hired a top international medical team for you!"

Was it because the doctors weren't good enough, or because they had delayed her treatment?

A profound exhaustion washed over Rebekah. She had clung to life in prison for three months, driven by the hope of seeing them again. And this was the surprise they had waiting for her.

"Forget it," she said, her lips twisting into another humorless smile. She stared directly at Benjamin. "All I want is to find the real culprit in the hit-and-run, find the person who perjured themselves, and clear my name."

Benjamin's expression faltered for a fraction of a second.

"Rebekah, you were never this fixated on revenge," he said, a slight frown creasing his brow. His voice cooled. "I'll do my best to help you, but I don't want you to be consumed by hatred. Can't we just move on and live our lives peacefully?"

Bitterness rose in her throat, a numbing pain spreading through her organs. They had ruined her life, and now he was asking her to live peacefully?

"Mom, even if your hand never heals properly, Dad and I would never be ashamed of you because you're disabled. You need to let go of this hatred," Shawn added, his face twisted into a cruel mockery of concern.

Rebekah couldn't bear their sickeningly condescending pity. She opened her mouth to retort, but the sound of Benjamin's phone ringing cut her off.

The ice in his eyes melted the instant he answered the call.

Rebekah watched him, her heart aching. In all their years of marriage, he had been good to her, but always with a detached coolness. She'd thought he was incapable of smiling.
