My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 50

Pushing the strange thought aside, Rebekah lowered her gaze and said nothing more.

Jensen drove with a steady hand. Ridgeview was a popular scenic spot, and they had to park halfway up the mountain. To spare her ankle, they took a cable car the rest of the way. He guided her onto the car, his presence steady and protective.

The view from the mountain was stunning, but strangely, they were the only two tourists there. The place was completely empty.

Rebekah frowned. "It's the weekend. Shouldn't this place be packed? Why is there no one here?"

Jensen let out a soft laugh, glanced at his phone with a knowing look, and said casually, "Who knows."

Not giving it much more thought, they found a place to sit at the summit. The sun was slowly sinking behind the opposite mountain, painting the western sky in fiery shades of red and orange. The clouds shifted and morphed, putting on a silent, spectacular show just for them.

Rebekah felt a wave of relaxation wash over her, a lightness she hadn't felt in a long time.

Jensen watched her, a smile touching his lips as he saw the tension leave her face. It seemed booking the entire place for her had been the right decision.

Sensing his gaze, she turned to meet his eyes. "What are you looking at?"

He showed no sign of being caught, simply propping his head on his hand and looking at her with a lazy, leisurely expression. "You're beautiful. It's nice to look at you."

He delivered the line with a playful ambiguity, half-teasing, half-sincere. Rebekah was momentarily flustered. She rolled her eyes at him. "Come on."

The way he said it felt almost seductive. Her heart skipped a beat, but she dismissed it as a joke and changed the subject. "You seem to have a lot of friends."

The lawyer he'd recommended was one of the best in the city. And this patch—her own medical background told her it was no ordinary remedy. His network was surprisingly extensive, filled with top professionals in their fields.

Jensen's expression shifted subtly. A small smile played on his lips, but he didn't answer, deftly changing the subject again.

By the time she returned to the Forrester estate, it was dark. There was a smile on her face, and the oppressive weight she usually carried seemed to have lifted. In her hand, she held a bag of medicated patches.

Benjamin was sitting on the sofa, a soft, affectionate look on his face as he texted on his phone.
