My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 60

Chapter 60

After Hortensia left, Rebekah clenched her right hand, the one with the patch, into a tight fist. A faint ache reminded her of the injury, but it was nothing compared to the pain of before.

Hortensia’s words, however, had served as a stark reminder.

She had promised Old Mr. Forrester she would stay for a few months, but she couldn’t sacrifice her entire future. There were only two months left of the three-month period they had agreed upon. The mandatory waiting period for a divorce was one month. She needed to file the papers with Benjamin within the next month.

She decided to talk to him about it tomorrow. He loved Candice; he should have no reason to

refuse her offer to step aside.

The next day, before the sun was fully up, Rebekah was violently dragged from her bed. She opened her eyes to see Benjamin’s face, contorted with rage. His hand was clamped around her injured wrist, and a searing pain shot up her arm. Her face went pale, and sweat beaded on her forehead.

“Rebekah, look what you’ve done!” he roared. “You were the one who wanted to keep our marriage a secret, so what is this? First, you scream about divorcing me, and now you pull this underhanded stunt? You are truly despicable!”

Rebekah couldn’t understand what he was talking about. The pain in her wrist was becoming unbearable, threatening to make her pass out. “Let go!”

He shoved her hand away, and she collapsed back onto the bed, clutching her wrist. “What is wrong with you? It’s the crack of dawn!”

Benjamin glared at her, his eyes burning with a murderous rage. “You had better pray this storm blows over quickly, Rebekah, or I will make sure you don’t get away with this.” With that, he stormed out.

Rebekah fumbled for a new patch from her nightstand and applied it, waiting for the throbbing to subside. This latest assault had undone weeks of healing, setting her back to square one. She was furious, but more than that, she was confused. Why had he burst into her room in such a frenzy?

She went downstairs, only to be met with a sharp slap across the face from her mother-in-law. Rebekah stumbled back, the woman’s long nails leaving a stinging scratch on her cheek.

“Bitch!” Hortensia shrieked. “You get exposed for your hit-and-run, and the first thing you do is leak your marriage to my son to distract everyone? What are you trying to accomplish?”

Shawn was there too, echoing his grandmother’s tirade. “You’re the one who wanted a secret marriage with Dad in the first place! Now that you’re in trouble, you expect him to clean up your mess? Can’t you solve any of your own problems?”

“And now everyone knows you’re married to Dad! How is Aunt Candice supposed to marry him

and become my mom? You said you were going to divorce him! You’re a liar!”
