My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 75

He leaned in closer to Rebekah. "I have a rule here: women don't work in my kitchen. Your only job is to eat."

His presence was overwhelming, and she instinctively took a step back. She didn't want to argue.

"Oh… okay, then."

Feeling a little awkward, Rebekah went to sit on the sofa and watched him work in the kitchen. A sense of nostalgia washed over her. Despite his intense demeanor, she remembered from their time abroad that he was surprisingly skilled in the kitchen. When they were together, she never had to worry about a thing.

After lunch, Jensen took her to see his friend at The Capital's most renowned medical center. It was owned by the Rivers family, a legacy passed down through generations. Rebekah was stunned to learn that Jensen's friend was none other than Daphne Rivers.

Daphne was young but had mastered the ancestral medical knowledge passed down to her, becoming the most respected doctor at the center. As a former surgeon, Rebekah had heard of her legendary skills. Daphne rarely saw patients herself unless it was a particularly serious case. Yet Jensen had led her straight to Daphne's private office.

"How do you two know each other?" she whispered to Jensen. "Are you that close?"

"My grandfather was a patient of hers. We got to know each other over time."

Rebekah nodded, though she found it strange. Famous doctors often had their quirks and strict rules, yet Jensen was on familiar terms with the most famous of them all. There was more to him than met the eye.

Still, she did as she was told and held out her hand for Daphne to examine.

Jensen shot her a cool look. "I don't need your approval."

Daphne shrugged and said no more.

After leaving the medical center, they went their separate ways. In high spirits, Rebekah returned home. Before she even stepped inside, she heard a startled cry from the living room.

She walked in to see Benjamin and Candice sprawled together on the sofa in a compromising position. The sight hit her like a punch to the gut, and the color drained from her face.

Benjamin, catching sight of her at the door, scrambled to his feet, a flicker of panic in his eyes. "Candice almost fell. I was just trying to help her, but I lost my balance. It's not what it looks like."
