My Marked Luna (Apphia and Nicholas) novel Chapter 60

**Apphia’s Perspective**

As I sat there, the words hung in the air like a whisper of fate, “Yes, I read that marked wolves have companions. It could be anything or anyone.” The thrill of the unknown danced in my chest, sparking curiosity.

Nicholas, lost in thought, gazed out the window as if searching for answers in the clouds. Suddenly, his expression shifted, and his attention darted toward Shai, who was sprawled lazily on a broad window sill, her eyes half-closed in a state of utter contentment.

“Shai!” I called out, my voice light and teasing. The feline lifted her head with an air of regal indifference, stretching with a grace that only cats possess before leaping effortlessly into my arms.

“And how was your day, my little queen?” I asked, cradling her against my chest. She responded with a soft purr, rubbing her neck against me, a gesture of affection that warmed my heart.

Nicholas, ever the curious one, reached out a tentative hand toward her, but Shai’s reaction was swift. She hissed, her emerald eyes narrowing into slits as she glared at him.

“Shai doesn’t seem to have much love for me,” he muttered, a frown creasing his brow.

“Well,” I countered playfully, fluttering my eyelashes at him, “unlike Shai, I hold you in quite high regard, Alpha.” A low, sultry growl rumbled from his throat, and before I knew it, he had wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer. His lips met mine in a kiss that sent sparks dancing through the air, igniting an undeniable chemistry between us.

After our moment, reality beckoned. Nicholas had responsibilities to attend to, so he escorted me to my bedroom with a gentle insistence that I should eat before retiring for the night. But the feast we had devoured at the restaurant still lingered in my stomach, so I opted to forgo supper.

The dawn of a new day found me waking from a deep slumber, the sunlight filtering softly through the curtains. I shuffled to the shower, the warm water washing away the remnants of sleep. Dressed in a snug black dress and tights, I made my way to the spiral table, inhaling the fragrant blooms and reading the note I had left for myself the day before.

Hunger gnawed at me as I ventured into the kitchen, and on my way, I encountered Knox, his brow furrowed in concentration as he stared at his phone.

“Good morning!” I chirped, a smile breaking across my face. Knox looked up, his expression softening into a grin.

“Morning! Where are you off to in such a hurry?” he inquired, curiosity evident in his voice.

“I’m on a mission to find something to satisfy my hunger,” I replied, rubbing my stomach for emphasis.

“I’ll join you. I missed breakfast,” he declared, falling into step beside me.

As we approached the kitchen, the rich, mouthwatering aroma of something delicious wafted through the air, making my stomach growl in anticipation. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson greeted us with warm smiles, bowing their heads in respect.

“Luna Apphia, Prince Knox, how may we serve you today?” Mr. Wilson asked, his voice smooth and inviting.

“We’re starving,” Knox replied, plopping himself down on the kitchen island. Mrs. Wilson wasted no time, bustling around to prepare our meal. Soon, she placed plates filled with golden pancakes, crispy bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, and a vibrant salad before us. The sight was nothing short of heavenly.

“Thank you!” we chorused, our voices harmonizing in gratitude.

I couldn’t help but moan in delight as I took a bite of the crispy bacon. Drizzling honey over my pancakes, I savored each mouthful, letting the flavors dance on my tongue.

“Are you ready to officially embrace your role as Luna of the sapphire Lycan pack, Apphia?” Knox asked, his tone serious yet encouraging. The weight of his question settled heavily on my shoulders, and I felt a flutter of anxiety in my stomach.

“I’m a bit nervous,” I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Word has spread about your bravery since the incident with Drake at the gym. People no longer see you as weak or spineless,” he chuckled, a teasing glint in his eyes.
