A Forced Contract Marriage with the Devil novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101

I parked the car in the lot, grabbing my bag and locking the doors behind me. My steps were slow as I made my way into the lobby, the tired eyes of the receptionist meeting mine with a look of mild indifference. After a quick exchange, I was handed the key to a room on the second floor. The air felt thick as I ascended the stairs, and I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling in my gut.

I opened the door to the room, and it smelled sterile, like all hotel rooms did, but at least it was quiet. I tossed my bag on the bed and flopped onto the mattress, staring up at the ceiling. The hum of the air conditioner was the only sound filling the space. For the first time in what felt like forever, I could finally breathe.

But even in the silence, my mind raced. I couldn’t stop thinking about Sabrina, about everything I had done, or didn’t do, about the past and the mess I had left behind. She died because of Alessandro and unfortunately he was still taunting me.

. I hated how it still had that effect.

I rolled over on my side, trying to push it all away, but it clung to me like a shadow. I had just made my first step to cutting ties with him, yet I still felt tangled in his grasp. How was I supposed to move on when the past kept pulling me back?

I threw the blanket off and sat up, rubbing my face in frustration

Just as I leaned back against the headboard, trying to clear my mind, a sharp knock on the door broke the silence. My heart skipped a beat, and my body went rigid. I wasn’t expecting anyone.

I hesitated for a moment, then stood, instinctively walking toward the door. I wasn’t sure who it could be maybe it was a bellboy or another guest but something in the pit of my stomach told me it was more than just a coincidence. I glanced at the peephole, the faint outline of a figure standing just outside the door.

When I saw the familiar, unmistakable figure standing in the hallway, I froze.

Alessandro.

I blinked a few times, certain my mind was playing tricks on me. I hadn’t heard from him in days, and I had just sent him that message, telling him to leave me alone. How the hell had he found me?

My pulse spiked as I reluctantly opened the door.

Alessandro stood there, looking exactly like he always had tall, impeccable posture, his ocean blue, piercing eyes locked onto mine. He wore a black leather jacket, his expression unreadable as he took in the sight of me, clearly surprised to find me standing there. His lips twisted into something that almost resembled a smirk.

Surprised to see me, Nikolai? His voice was the same commanding tone that used to make my skin crawl. I couldn’t speak for a moment, caught between confusion and disbelief. I hadn’t expected this at all.

What the hell are you doing here?I finally managed to rasp, my voice thick with shock.

Alessandro stepped closer, his presence towering over me, his gaze unyielding. You didn’t think I’d just let you go, did you?He was so calm, like he had every right to be standing there, like he owned the place.

I stepped back, closing the door slightly, my chest tightening as a wave of unease washed over me. The door was still open just enough for his words to hit
