York didn't explain. He forcibly stuffed the bank card into Claudia's pocket.
He changed the subject. "I know you don't like that Ann and her son stayed in our marital home, so I moved out. We'll live here from now on."
Claudia's face was cold as she refused. "York, the only reason I haven't exposed your scandal is out of respect for your mother, who has treated me like her own daughter for over twenty years. If you push me any further, don't blame me for taking you down with me."
York looked her in the eye and said, word by word, "Claudia, I know you're angry. It's hard to accept Ann and her son right now. You can live separately from me to cool down, you can build your own career, but we are not getting a divorce."
Seeing her silence, York stepped forward and gently took her wrist.
When he spoke again, his voice softened unconsciously. "There are still six months until the end of the year. You can take your time to think it over. As long as you come home, I'll find a way to get your mother's jewelry back, and this ten million dollars will be yours."
Claudia's rejection was absolute. "You should know me by now, York. Even if I love something, once it's been tainted, I throw it away. Let alone a man who doesn't love me, who betrayed me, who is dirty from his heart to his body!"
With that, Claudia pushed him away and turned to leave.
As the door opened, she nearly collided with Peter.
She didn't even have time to greet him before storming out.
Peter stopped York, who had followed her to the doorway. "Fighting again?"
York stopped when he saw Peter. "She's furious right now. I don't feel right about her going home alone. Can you give her a ride?"
Peter grunted an "Okay" and chased after Claudia, catching the elevator with her.
At the entrance to the complex, Peter talked Claudia into his car and helped her inside.
